I know this is a newbie question but I'm paranoid. They're both xlr and mono obviously and I'm assuming its ok but I just need verification.

Quick answer: NO.

Although the XLR connectors are compatible, the cable itself is all wrong. You're putting a lot of watts through a cable that is designed for a very weak signal. The cable will melt.

But you CAN get out your solder-tools, cut off the mic cable and solder a normal 220v power cable inbetween them ;-)

if you are using active speakers, then mic cable is perfect, bur if you are going from an AMP to a passive speaker, then mains cable is the best bet
