Not sure if this is a limited time thing or not, wanted to point out that there's a free scaled down version of Bazille being given away from Beat magazine, called Beatzille, read here: http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2016/10 ... le-free-2/

Don't think it's a time limit.
Been on my hd for a while. They gave it away when you installed an Android app a year about a year ago.

I mean, they might decide to STOP giving it away at some point in the future. It's been magware, but currently being freeware makes it a nice option for a future OSC...

It's the same as Bazille CM.
Also Beat recently had Beatzille for all because of the 20000 fb fans.
It's still there - http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 0#p6589390 - EDIT - no, it's been removed...

here some other ideas for OSC:
- daHornet http://www.kvraudio.com/product/dahorne ... hsignature
- Remedy http://www.kvraudio.com/product/remedy_ ... ound_koblo
- Bazz::Mudra http://www.kvraudio.com/product/bazz-mu ... -distocore
- HY-Mono http://www.kvraudio.com/product/hy-mono-by-hy-plugins
- dvnsfxmaker http://www.kvraudio.com/product/dvnsfxm ... avi-santos
.... or a complete ochestra (sample-based):
- bigcat-vstis http://www.kvraudio.com/product/bigcat- ... nstruments
I didn't try any of these instruments. But i would give them a chance, if one of them is an instrument for the OSC ....

Bazz::Mudra looks super interesting to use for an OSC haha. No problems making kick drums with that thing!

MauSynth would be great, very cool synth, it's been a while since it was used last in an OSC. Also still hoping for another round of OBXD (now from DiscoDSP, I read they made some sound modifications).
Could live wit SQL8 too!

VST2413 is a good choice for next month, though it is only 32 bit. It would be really interesting to hear what people do with a truly bottom-of-the-barrel FM synth nevertheless.

Hi all, I have got an idea, why not make kvrotc: kvr one tracker challenge?
a parralel running competition to osc but with trackers and not with softsynth,
each month a different free tracker like, sunvox, musagi, milkytracker, goattracker, cheesecutter, mulab free, pixitracker, dreamstation 1, rebirth rb338, famitracker, adlib tracker, aodix, caustic, deflemask, hivelytracker,....
can some kvr administrator reply me?
thanks very very much!

I want to revisit this issue because I no longer think it applies to this particular plugin.
If you recall, a long time ago, NI gave away their Replika delay plugin and we were able to use it on our tracks. Then it went to a paid plugin and we were told we couldn't even though we got it for free.
Well, I've done some research into this "paid" plugin. It is NOT the same as the free one. It has a ton more functionality than the free one thus making the free one a totally different plugin. Therefor, I see no reason why we shouldn't be able to use the free version of Replika on our tracks.

Far as I can tell, the Replika that was free is now $24.50 https://www.native-instruments.com/en/p ... load-demo/
There is also Replika XT, which has more features and costs double.

I think the key issue is if the free version is currently available to participants.wagtunes wrote: Well, I've done some research into this "paid" plugin. It is NOT the same as the free one. It seems to me that the contest is about using tools that are free now opposed to what might have been free 6 months ago. That way a new contestant would have the same tools available (outside their choice of DAW) that all the other constants have.
Win10 x64, Reaper 6.XX x64, i5-3330, 8gb ram, GTX-970, UC-33, Panorama P4, Wharfedale Diamond 8.2 and JVC HA-RX700

And therein lies the problem with all of this. There are people using DAWs that have killer plugins that blow away the stuff that comes with other DAWs. So by luck of the choice, I can't use the same "delay" as some other guy just because I use a different DAW.
Because of that alone, nobody is on a level playing field as far as plugins available.
To make this truly fair, no DAW plugins should be allowed to be used either. Just whatever is out there that can be downloaded free. That way we're all on a level playing field.

The issue of fairness comes up repeatedly. It is true that the current rules give an unfair advantage to those who spring for a decent DAW, but the rule exists as a compromise to interest more producers. I believe there are contests, trackers come to mind, where at least the entire software stack is 100% controlled. However, true fairness would require everyone to have identical tools, not just synth and plugins, but also the DAW and even down to the CPU. Otherwise, someone would complain that someone who can afford a hex core Xeon has an unfair advantage over someone who can only afford an APU or i3.
I believe the typical counter-argument is to swing the other way and open up the rules to allow commercial plugins. That makes it very hard to verify that someone hasn't cheated... bjporter can't be expected to duplicate every producer's custom $10k software rig. You're personally only looking to use a few free-on-promo plugins, but the rule would presumably allow all commercial plugins (that don't modulate pitch or sample), and I'm pretty sure there are a few OSC contestants who have thousands of dollars of plugins. Would you really rather be up against that, or have to choose a free delay?
That said, I'd probably vote for allowing commercial plugins. Or at least trialing the concept.
