Glad you stuck with it Mjr5house, I really liked your track. I love long steady progressions, you should continue with this tune and keep it going. Aim for half an hour:) Brings me back to my shoegaze days.

Thanks ssj71 and opoint,
That means a lot!

That means a lot!
Ah yes I loved the Shoe gaze, makes me want to get out my guitar stand in front of $6000 worth of pedals and play one chord that will make men cry.point wrote:I love long steady progressions, you should continue with this tune and keep it going. Re the plugins - I didn't use audio vibrato but used audio tremolo - very different I know, but it can still evoke the same feeling when dialed into a note which is changing pitch just a little on the decay, also stuck it after the reverb for even more effect!
Good luck, it was worth it I'm sure.

Loads of great tracks here. Really well done, everyone. They make me feel pretty wanting in my skills. But here goes, I was kind of going for minimal plugin use, and as usual focused more on song structure than the mix or sound design. All the sounds were tweaked from the default patch.
https://soundcloud.com/ssj71/ssj71-osc9 ... ma-machine
(and copied from the SC description):
The Pajama Machine comes when it's bed time, and you STILL don't have your pajamas on!? First you hear the typical after-dinner continuation of some twin kindergarten-age boys' playday, meandering between messy activities, but then bedtime approaches, and the Pajama Machine warns of its coming. Still, the playtime resumes, and even escalates. When the Machine returns, chaos ensues as it consumes any who oppose and promises even they will sing the Pajama theme. The story ends as the Machine processes the boys (puts their pajamas on) despite their desperate struggle. Not that they'll go to sleep anyway but at least now he can read them a book, close their door and go start cleaning up their mess in the living room.
This track was made for the KVR OSC and all sounds were programmed from the default patch of the excellent softsynth OBXd. The sequencing and mixing was performed in ardour on linux (as usual) using (almost) exclusively the built-in a-* plugins to attempt a fully-cross platform project. You can see the full project files at github.com/ssj71/OSC93.
Plugins used:
11x Obxd
8x A-comp
1x A-EQ
1x A-delay
1x A-reverb
1x x42 Midi velocity randomizer
p.s. if I forgot something important please let me know, this is my first time doing this myself.
Many thanks to all involved!

Yeah Vintage Verb is payware! Doh! I thought it was free for some reason. TOO many plug ins.pylon wrote:What's allowed and what's not seems a bit of a minefield. Lot's of grey areas it appears... well at least to someone like me who is not very experienced in OSCs

Not sure the issue with Crusher? Is it because Camel is defunct?

Re Crusher, I remember when I was an OSC n00b I was shocked that bit crushers were allowed, as they can have devastating effects on the sound, basically sounding like a bitcrusher not a synth, and avoided them for months. However, I saw people using them to add brightness, as well as for vowel effects, and gave in. (Then lost interest in bitcrushers because I want all the bits intact, thank you very much.) Now, I believe a bitcrusher is just a perverse filter, filters are allowed, and I'd hate if filters (e.g. EQ) were banned, so go nuts, crush those bits, I say. Or it's a digital distortion, distortion is allowed, and I'd hate if distortion (e.g. saturation) was banned, same conclusion. (actually i guess of the 2 typical knobs, one distorts, the other filters? I should probably build a bit crusher in Reaktor just to understand...)

A bit disappointing, but this is my entry. Since Zynewave Podium wouldn't load the synth, had to work in FL, and this is in fact my first FL track. Most of the time obsessed over cleaning the arrangement (...patterns everywhere...) and learn the workflow as I go.

Hmm well I generally just see what knob in the bitwig device turns what knob in the VST gui and just automate that, seems to work fine.z.prime wrote:Automation works fine, it's just recording/sending automation messages by turning the synth knobs doesn't, at least not for me.Hm I was able to automate stuff in Bitwig/windows using 1.3.14. What I wasn't able to do was save FXP presets, only Bitwig presets. No, it doesn't seem to send automation messages when knobs are pressed, confirmed on OSX + Bitwig.
