If I already have SSL collection, would I need the VMR?
Right now the price for VMR is 50% off with no ilock, what if I need an ilock? Where is their sale with the ilock?
What is the ilock exactly? I've looked at other sites and one place said it is $70? What exactly am I paying $70 for? I'm fine with paying $70 if it does something for me, but I'm not paying extra money for a useless usb stick that I cannot even use, only to help the company make sure their software remains uncracked. If the latter is the case, shouldnt the ilock be included for free if you purchase ilock software?
Finally, if I purchase the VMR tonight/this weekend, will I be able to use it immediately or is it something where I am going to have to wait until the ilock ships so I mind as well order next week?
Can someone clarify please? Thanks.

you're right

iLok is exactly that - an overpriced usb stick that servers no other purpose as to make sure their software remains uncracked. And it's not doing a good job at it as all the Slate plugins have have been compromised.AB69 wrote:If I already have SSL collection, would I need the VMR?

people who "steal software" aren't the ones who compromised iLok's defenses.ATS wrote:I blame all the people stealing software not the devs
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Can't use the slate software even in demo mode without an ilok 2. Get VMR it's superb.
Your activation file is downloaded onto your ilok, the Slate plugs check your ilok for the activation. It also lights up blue making your desk look more fancy. I would get the ilok 2 cost out of the way then you can use it for other plugins in the future.

the op asked specific questions about Slate Digital and ilok, one active thread debating the merits about ilok is sufficient and please take those comments there. that thread has been moved here

i've never had any problem with Ilok and Ilok Stick only plugins
there is a possibility that PC users might have problem because Most "pro" users(music and Post-Production)
have Pro-tool rigs on Macs
not that PC isn't good or anything but the "pro" users are the ones who demand it to work out of the box immediately.. are on Macs
I bought Slate VMR with the free ilok key sale(is it still on ?)

The only issue I've had, and I really don't know any longer why, VMR takes a bit too long to load. It's just the first time you open it in your host but I'm always nervous it's gonna hang/crash

a goo way to improve compatibility problems on Pc is to
not install bit torrent
not install any Video games
turn off Anti-virus
and the internet should only be used for plugin authorizing
that's basically what "pro" users do with their Pro-Tools rig
its not a Computer but rather a Studio Machine
