I doubt it. All the waves, even the basic saw, square, etc. are pulled from the contents folders. You would probably get a whole lot of "missing file" errors depending on how the programming of the synth itself was setup unless no content would eliminate all those sub menus for picking a wave file. So can't really answer your question.

But my gut tells me that if you don't download and install the content, you're going to have one messed up synth.

Okay, there seems to be some confusion here. How do beta testers override their beta key file with the key file they just purchased? Is there a way to do this or do we have to wait for the beta key file to expire and then import in the new key file?

I did. She said I already have a beta key.

Did I just spend $176 for nothing because as a beta tester I was getting the synth free? If so, nobody told me this.

Edit: Knock on wood. Download from alt link was interrupted after 600 MB at 2 MB/s and the primary one caps at 300 KB/s.

Ironically the alt site is so fast compared to the original download site is that I may get the contents downloaded long before the demo installers

Any chance of putting the installers on the alternate site too?

Many big sample instruments are divided in 1GB RAR 'bites', which is a considerate practice.
