I just posted 2 sc links. One made with Avenger (everything as stock and smooth as possible) and one with rapid. There is a huge difference. I used an highpass filter, so you can really hear those steps in the higher regimes.Ingonator wrote:Additionally when using the dedicated wavetable envelope you also got the "smooth" parameter/knob which makes modulation with the envelope smoother indeed.

It seems that I cannot load the factory library, too. I moved the lib to my audio drive.
On the initial popup, I located it, but it still asks for it. Then suddenly it was accepted, but no presets are shown. I only can click on "factory" and will see a black list screen.
Under SYS, the factory library location is "/Volumes/Audio/Audiodata/Avenger/"
The dir has full access rights.
My specs are:
OSX 10.9.4
Renoise 3.1 64bit
EDIT: Yes, on 75% (which would be my preferred gui size) the font is quite not readable...
EDIT2. It reads quite ok on 80%.

Did you drag drop the content into the patchlist? Worked for me.Hanz Meyzer wrote:It seems that I cannot load the factory library, too. I moved the lib to my audio drive.

O.k. Finally i got it working too but only when i drop and drag the file direct into the small sys location window.
I really like it so far....the biggest downside is now really that the fans go like crazy. After a few minutes even i get scared.
Or is it the organic noise sample feature included

The drum sequencer side of Avenger is a frustrating missed opportunity at the moment, I think. There's so much great design here as highlighted in the specific drum video, but two fundamental flaws mean its about 95% less useful than it should be:
1. No apparent way to play separate kit parts from the keyboard, and
2. Just one pattern per patch, max 16 measures.
You can of course have a separate patch where individual drums are assigned to their own keyzones (fiddly to set up), but there doesn't seem to be a way to integrate this with the sequencer - it's an either / or deal. As a user, what you really want, is the sequencer kit parts to be assigned to an octave (say, C0-B1).
An alternate approach would be to use different patterns, each mapped to its own octave - I don't think this is currently possible either. It's just the one sequence, over however many keys you have. Makes for great fun SQ patches, but they quickly become useless in serious use, for all these reasons.
Manuel, is this something that might get addressed in a future update?

Fantastic sounding synth with mind-blowing capabilities.
Though I would like to add some feature requests and suggestions:
- For the V-Saw spreading I miss a control to smoothly change the way of spreading from logarithmic to exponential, best would be like right drag on that nice display. Something like this:

- In the ADSR the curve setting is only changeable using Strg+LMB. Is it possible to make it on right, middle drag or mouse wheel? Or maybe even with left, if you precisely target that inner handle?
- Better font readability for sizes below 100%, esp. below 80%
- For the filter drive I would love to see an option "pre-filter". Of course I can circumvent this with a shaper or a second filter, ok. I just think of my Radias here
- Maybe this is already inside: I would love to see a "transition-filter", from LP to BP to HP for the filter type. Like in Radias or OBXD
- Per voice panning, so you can pan each single voice using an LFO or randomize it. So all notes of a chord have different pannings. Like in Mpowersynth or OBXD.
Or maybe a "Polyphonic LFO"?
- For key tracking, it seems to be quite difficult to EXACTLY double frequency per octave? Maybe I just did not figure this out...
- Yes, I agree that frequency info additional to percentage would be useful
- I would love to see those awesome graphs while dragging sustain or shaper for a longer time. Why not for example change it that you see it as long the pointer is on control, and fade it out faster than now, if mouse leaves handle? Ah, maybe that would lead into lot of flickering....
- Does random phase and random pitch also work for V-Saw unison?
- Polyphonic aftertouch support
- For a later version the macro section maybe could be expanded with features like more controls and similar to Mpowersynth?
Bugreport
- Crash once / force-quitted Renoise once when I pressed a midi after silence (OSX 10.9.4, Renoise 3.1 64bit)
- The context menu for the mod matrix always appears on initial scroll position. So if you scroll the matrix, the context menu appears on a completely wrong position
- if one control is connected with two sources in the matrix and the first source was deactivated, on dragging the changing-amount on the control will only still change the first source and not the second, although the first was deactivated...?
- Location of compressed content thru initial popup doesn't work... Maybe I just did not get that it's for decompressed content only?
- After resizing you need to reopen the gui since wrong positioning...
Will add more later....

From a technical standpoint Avenger is pretty cool.
Having said that, as an owner of Ableton, Dune2, Fm8, Nora, Serum and Spire its hard to see what this Synth brings to the table that I don't already have.
The workstation approach that Avenger offers probably best suits those who prefer to get as much done in one piece of software as possible.
New producers that haven't built up an extensive library of vsti's gain the most especially given Avengers price-point which seems really fair considering whats on offer.
I am sure there will also be many expansions for Avenger.
Interesting Synth
but covers too much territory without excelling in anything in particular imo.

nowadays no one reads the manual any moreAs a user, what you really want, is the sequencer kit parts to be assigned to an octave (say, C0-B1).
just turn off the Drumsequencer in the Drum Routing and there you have a Drumkit with C0 (kick) to B1 (crash) so you can play via MIDI / Daw's piano roll

Really nice one....
after downloading the 4 gig factory for the demo....
It does not even fit on my screen....
In mulab I can not eben drag it somewhere to reach the lower part of it....
Dont know HOW big your screen have to be, never had that with any vst that it does not even ROUGHLY came near to the size of my window....
But maybe better, probably I would not even understand that part that fits on my screen...

There doesn't seem to be a quick way just to import a wav sample that isn't a Drum part. Is there a reason you can't drop a on shot wav into the the sample osc section ?

there is a looking glass in the main (center top) screen. you can choose a different size there.tatanka wrote:Really nice one....
