If the .dll itself is 4,5 MB, how could they make 200+ MB graphics out of it? Especially, how could they allocate same graphics multiple times?acYm wrote:it's the graphics. all assets are doubled for the normal and larger gui sizes.
Either way, it looks like major bug to me. Effectively makes me unable to use multiple instances of plugins, even with better gear than current.

Yes, it is a memory hungry if you use many instances.
I was curious to compare to what other Instruments use (I mean the regular instruments I use).
I loaded Reaper 5.29 64bit (in Win 10 64bit) which showed 53 MB usage, then with every 4 instances of one synth (64bit VST2.4 unless stated), I took a note of the memory usage then exit Reaper and restart it again (so starting with the same base memory). The preset is always the default or the first one in the list:
4 x LuSH = 1004 MB
4 x ACE = 80 MB
4 x CODEX = 1179 MB
4 x Hive = 109 MB
4 x Largo = 425 MB
4 x Massive = 148 MB
4 x Predator v1 = 230 MB
4 x Predator v2 = 411 MB
4 x Mono/Poly = 110 MB
4 x Monark = 319 MB
4 x Razor = 726 MB
4 x Drive (Reaktor Block) = 593 MB
4 x Retrologue v2 = 253 MB
4 x Synclavier V = 641 MB
4 x VirtualCZ = 108 MB
4 x VPS Avenger (beta 1.20) = 1787 MB
4 x Wavestation = 257 MB
4 x PadShop Pro (VST3) = 279 MB
Well done u-he!

Wow @ avenger!
Dune 2 rougly takes 250 MB per instance as well.

I just loaded 4 instances of Dune 2 and Reaper went from 42 megs to 275 megs....all four GUIs open.Touch The Universe wrote:Dune 2 rougly takes 250 MB per instance as well.

That doesn't matter, since it's the GUI that eats up all the ram.egbert101 wrote:It should be remembered that LuSH-101 and Dune 2 have eight layers each per patch, so effectively eight synthesizers per patch.

Each layer has its own gui page, which accounts for all the RAM.

Bull. The big GUI uses 400MB. That shouldn't be a problem whatsoever these days. Unless you're on a system with 4GB or less + using a lot of other stuff. What if you use 10 or more instances of LuSH-101 plus other plugins (sample-based) plus DAW itself, plus effects, plus the operating system?exmatproton wrote:Bull. The big GUI uses 400MB. Answer: I had to bounce most of tracks to audio to even be able to work.
The more RAM was intended to allow to host more plugins, not let programmers be lazy and write inefficient programs. My game runs under 200 MB.

You can say that about all stuff; if you use x instances..then, there is a problem. LuSH-101 is an heavy synth, i am not denying that, but the point was those 8 layers. You don't "need" 10 instances with some clever programming per se. 10x8layers=effectively 80 synths...All the layers have their own dedicated output, so...DJ Warmonger wrote:What if you use 10 or more instances of LuSH-101 plus other plugins (sample-based) plus DAW itself, plus effects, plus the operating system?exmatproton wrote:Bull. Furthermore, LuSH-101 is heavy. Like the more heavy games out there. They don't use less then 200MB either. You shouldn't compare it to something completely different, imho.

I don't care how much ram it takes, that's why I went x64 back in 2010. 16gb is enough. Also, as for "heavy" please remember what I mentioned about the "mulitcore" for CPU use. Not all synths have this and it's a huge difference.
Still love it. An unexpected surprise and though I'm not sure I've come close to really understanding it's full potential, it's terrific and not over-priced.

Even single monophonic layer takes over 200 MB. I don't need all these layers at all. For basslines one layer is absolutely enough. If you aks me to route 4 different bassline patterns through one instance, then I say definitelly NO.ou can say that about all stuff; if you use x instances..then, there is a problem. Also, reality is LuSH-101 is quite a simple synth with limited routing and capabilities. It doesn't even have sine osc. Dune 2 is somewhat similiar and has much more possibilities, yet takes fine amount of RAM.

Then, this synth isn't your synth. Use something else indeed.DJ Warmonger wrote:Even single monophonic layer takes over 200 MB. I don't need all these layers at all.
