ECO Mode in 1.023 solves my GPU issue (GTX 1080 on Windows 10) - now I "could" have 3,4 Avengers open without burning my card.

Post

And another datapoint - i7 2.8 MBP mid 2015 AMD R9 M370X 10.11.4 Activity Monitor reports- eco mode in Cubase Elements 8 about 22fps, approx 115% cpu when open, 23% cpu when closed, init patch. High mode 130% cpu. For comparison, Omni 2 init patch is 22% cpu whether open or closed, approx 2fps.

There's clearly something amiss with Avenger's GUI and MBPs at least, and the Eco mode has sadly seemingly barely scratched the surface of the problem.

(Again - no issues with the W10 main rig)

Ah forgot about that. Still, it's an interesting coincidence that this API has two methods with the same name CocoaOpenGLView::doDraw() and CocoaOpenGLView::swapBuffers()
I don't know C/C++ really. But I know some Java and C#. If I compare, those seems not the same methods, but look like the same object (CocoaOpenGLView) and two methods doDraw() and swapBuffers(). I don't remember what the "::" operator does. In Java/C#, you access the methods and parameters by the dot (.)

Anyway, I still prefer u-he approach for GUI programming and size. That is, fixed sizes (but many) that covers every resolution size.

Maybe if in the eco mode (or super eco!), the developer also disable all the animations.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

the performance quality is RIDICULOUS!!!!!

win7 home 64bit FL12
1 F***ing osc active, pluck, playing some keys in a row gets 90% - 100% cpu hit lol....

unbelievable, i will wait with my purchase until this is fixed. sorry but this is just disastrous quality atm.

noo..that are the osc voices. Take a look at the voice section; he enabled al 4 *extra* voices. Plus some v-saw voices and all of this per voice...

Over here i can do 800 voices without stuttering. that is with 5 v-saw voices + 4 extra osc's in the voice section and 32 voices

I am actually finding the cpu use to be pretty good, at least as good as Falcon and comparable synths.

I am on windows 10 64 bit i7 4ghz and have had no issues at all cpu or gpu, so there are obviously some specific configuration issues rather than a general problem, so demo hard!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

My thoughts exactly. Running a 4790k at 4,8GHz and the amount of voices are comparable with falcon and rapid. Also, the use of the oversampled drive (drive-o), increases the cpu usage.

Uups....but Dune 2 can handle several 1000's without a problem then.
Avenger is also for me the most demanding synth i own yet....even Falcon, Omnisphere 2 and yes even Kaleidoscope is more cpu friendly!
And the GUI.....also a lot little bugs.
This thing should go trough another long beta phase!!
It sounds great and can do great things but it's not usable really here....on my machine at least.
It sucks the whole battery empty from my MacBook in about 45 minutes :o
And the battery is still good.

Did you try different filter types? And disable the oversampling on the drive selection on your filters.

Looks like it may be MAC issues or laptop (Gpu) , it is no more heavy that those synth you mention on a PC desktop, I have them all ;-)

Same here.

so you need a nasa computer to handle this baby? if it opens without a crash at all? it feels like they shouldn't have been releasing it by now. this is more hurting to the company than pushing them forward.

unfortunately there are several bugsreports and feature promises with phalanx, glitchbitch and tapestop. none of them have been fixed nor implemented the last years... this is not very customer friendly. so i wonder if avenger will ever reach a state where it works like it should. or if the focus is more on releasing xps for those lucky ones who are able to work with.

I am using it daily, without any crash since 1.0.22. It seems MAC users are troubled with a less stable release. I hope stuff get better for them soon, cause this thing is amazing (imho).
