This ECO thing really hasn't changed anything at all on the laptop, totally un-eco here. I can't wait for my 12-ore Mac Pro to return back from the doctor to see, if this is also happening on the big machine.
I assume 1 instance of Avenger runs on just one Core.
If this Core get's "maxed out" by the load of Avenger, than even trying it on a 24core maschine that has the same or even lower CPU frequency than your current mac, that wouldn't make much of a difference.

If Avenger is / would be "multicore" capable, it's another ballgame.
Multicore capability would be most welcome for such a cpu hog as Avenger is.

Wait...Avenger is not multicore capable? I find this really hard to believe...

I just downloaded the demo, no problems whatsoever here in Munich with the bandwidth.

But I have a few issues:

1) I really struggle to read a single letter on my laptop even at 75% I need to stick to my monitor and that's a huge one for me, on the mac pro no problems, but still...

2) Why on the world you thought the pitch bend or modwheel amount display had a priority over Transpose or Cutoff? I don't even know how many semitones I'm trasposing and going by ear can be frustrating in the long run. I hope this was just left behind by accident.

3) Cpu. 60% for a single patch on a macbook pro it's really a lot, can we lower the quality or something?

Before the purchase I need to know if those issues are going to be looked into.

a short video:
http://sendvid.com/cy4n2w1n

edit* I changed the audio driver in logic to record the video, once changed Avenger resets to the default patch, is that supposed to happen also on the full version?

Thanks,

A.
I agree on nr1! Hd screens arent favorable and its still more populare to own hd than qhd or 4k screens.

Nr 2! U can set up that in pitch sectipm the pitch up and down. Also in sys tap(system) u by default have visual feedback off dont exactly remember the name/ feature but there should be something called like 'show tooltip' or something. Turn that on then its easier seeing values when turning stuff

3. Overall ive heard a lot is issues with mac off latly with a lot of daws and plugins.. also mac stripping usb and shit of their computer. Mac is not as good for music as it used to. Layest release of os created so many issues! Im now on happy windows, music seems overall more stable for me now and avenger works.

A lot off people complain about performance but avenger do better then serum even if i got more voices and more routing going on. Thats awesome :) but yeah its still use cpu!

Sry to respond, im NOT manual

(Apple used to deal with interfaces heavy on GPU by makig a screenshot to png after a window resize and updating only animated parts of the gui. Maybe it is applicabble for your coding too.)

So why would you assume a brand new coded synth was only single core? :?

I was referring to the overheating problem on my MBP hooked up to a 27" Thunderbolt monitor, which doesn't seem to be related to CPU, as it also occurs when Avenger us doing nothing at all, so maybe the graphic card in my big Mac will react differently to the new ECO mode.

Gotcha, sorry i have misunderstood you.

Meanwhile, gave Avenger another shot:

- Reaper Project with only 1 Track : Avenger loaded on that track.
- Loaded the preset "Ar Broken Emotions"
- made a midi clip with only 1 midi note "polyphony", triggering Avenger.
- Started to tweak parameters in Avenger.
Outcome: after a few minutes, macbook fans kick in, although not that loud.
Further more after those few minutes: i get regular audio dropouts

Macbook Retina 2015.
Apollo Twin.
OSX 10.12.1
Reaper 5.30 - 64bit
Audiobuffer 512, 44.1 khz.
Avenger 1.023 VSTi , 65% GUI scaled, ECO mode.

Not sure if this was mentioned but assigning modulations to sample editor keytrack or shift doesn't work 90 percent of the time, although after a few minutes it will start to, then go back to not working. If someone else can confirm this it would be great, if not I'll leave my specs, again.

Edit: Not intuitive, how do I load samples?

I am on windows 10 64 bit i7 4ghz and have had no issues at all cpu or gpu, so there are obviously some specific configuration issues rather than a general problem, so demo hard!
My thoughts exactly. Running a 4790k at 4,8GHz and the amount of voices are comparable with falcon and rapid. Also, the use of the oversampled drive (drive-o), increases the cpu usage.

Hello guys

Could u please tell more about yours configuration ?

I have exactly same processor, Running a i7-4790k, are u using Internal Graphics or u have dedicated GPU ?, because i had an issue with GPU, but after last update on ECO mode its lower, but still is about 20-25 %(GPU), i am just wondering, if that can be my Intel HD 4600 Graphics. (drivers up to date)

CPU hits normal, like other soft-synths.

Thanks
Sounds like the issues are GPU- I am on a GTX980 and it doesn't even notice the GUI!

Tip (for the time being), for people who use Avenger in Reaper:

You can run Avenger as a "Dedicated process" in Reaper and also set the plugin in "Buggy compatibility mode"
Just open your plugin list in Reaper, find Avenger (vsti) and then right click on it.
Then you see those 2 options you can checkmark.

If Avenger should crash, at least, this way, it doesn't bring your whole Reaper project with it; the Project doesn't crash.

some people haven't lern to Apologize
when you start selling a product, and it cant fulfil its promise which it have to offer, then you must Apologize, big companies make that, then start to fix the problem
There is a free fully functional demo- why would anyone buy it if it didn't work for them? Most software companies that offer a demo will say try it thoroughly on your system before you buy it. You don't have to buy it, if it doesn't work for you (yet) walk away (or did you buy it without testing it?)

As far as I can see the developer is working very hard to address the issues what is what really matters, there have already been 2 updates in a week, cant really ask for more....it was beta tested, perhaps all the beta testers had decent graphics cards!

RTM.

Post

I haven't even reached that stage yet. Why would I go all out and rtm when i just want to dip my toes in the water. I was hoping there was a very simple method that was eluding me and after a quick search and coming up empty I asked. Seems its anything but simple, extremely convoluted to say the least.

There seriously needs to be some kind of import feature directly on the synth.
how can I import samples?

here is the description taken from the english manual, page 19. The multisamples must be in a folder, where the folder name will be the name of the multisample later. You do not have to use multisamples, you also can use just 1 sample, named 1 C2.wav for example. The "_" stands for a "space".

Please choose the folder which contains the multisample. The files must be in wav format and named in accordance with the following scheme:
1_c0.wav 2_e0.wav 3_f#0.wav 4_c1.wav 5_e1.wav etc…
This is an example of 4th intervals. You may choose any interval that you wish. Another example would be the following octave interval:
1_c0.wav 2_c1.wav 3_c2.wav 4_c3.wav 5_c4.wav 6_c5.wav
Every other interval is also possible. Instead of using numbers at the beginning, you can also use any text that you wish. The only important thing is that the note name at the end (before the “.wav”) is included. We recommend however that you do use numbers as this helps keep the files displayed in order. You can only use sharp notes (#) in note names; no flat (b) half notes.
