Those are the only two things that are listed as "new." It wouldn't surprise me, Steinberg is notorious for underwhelming new features.tedannemann wrote:http://shop.musix.ch/de/Steinberg-Cubas ... IESPT.html

They are also notorious for introducing new features that don't work. I've thought about getting a steiny key (they have them at GC) and demoing cubuse again many many times. But I read more about horror stories than people stating how much they like it.
Seems they are a relic from the past that doesn't listen to their customers, can't beta test their own product, and expect people to be perfectly happy with that (like cakewalk)

And to be fair though, those two items are listed on the Cubase ARTIST page. The Pro page doesn't list them. The feature list looks to be a little unfinished at the moment to me. I know there were some rumors of a few other features. So we'll see what happens. I'm guessing we'll all know in 12 hours or so.ghettosynth wrote:Those are the only two things that are listed as "new." You mean, except for all the people who ARE happy with it? You really have to stop judging hosts by what you read man. Forums are where people go to complain or talk about problems. The vocal minority, if you will.incubus wrote:They are also notorious for introducing new features that don't work. I'm not saying Cubase or Sonar or whomever hasn't had issues. They have (as have most hosts). But Cubase and Sonar, to this day, have larger customer bases than almost every other host. If you think you know anything about the majority of users, you would likely be mistaken. Nobody does. I know you love to jump on Sonar and apparently Cubase as well, but the reality is they are both great hosts that a lot of people do a lot of work in just fine, and never have any reason to complain. I know dozens of users of both who never step foot on forums because they are simply getting things done with them.
Regardless, not to dive off topic any further, I'm excited to see what Cubase 9 will have. It is already extremely feature packed, more than maybe any other host in the same price range. I'm sure I'll upgrade because I, like many, are very happy with Cubase and I really like the direction they have gone with it since the last few versions. All I really have on my wish list is a tabbed interface, though the current one is already MUCH better than it was a couple of years ago. Bring on Cubase 9!

While I don't disagree. I will say this, 7.5 is pretty stable on my system. I also like the songwriting features that a lot of people disapprove of. I've just not felt it for the last two releases so I haven't upgraded.incubus wrote:They are also notorious for introducing new features that don't work. What I really like in Cubase is mixing and it's become important enough that I find that I'm spending too much time trying to find workarounds for missing features in Reaper.
My multi-DAW paradise is becoming more stable and my music production is getting faster. I need to spend some time with the cubase manual to revisit some ways of doing things. A lot of the reasons that I didn't like Cubase in the past have become irrelevant for me owing to new workflow.
I won't give up Reaper or Live just yet. Live is just too useful for certain genres and Reaper gets installed on every computer I have so it becomes my default DAW for just doing something wherever. I am moving back to Cubase as my main compositional DAW though, probably because what I'm doing has changed and now the features in Cubase are more important to me.
Haven't felt any love for Cakewalk since Cakewalk for DOS version 2.0.

Does anyone know if any of these Cubase 8+ versions can be made to look exactly like v7.5? I hate the fonts and the dark theme of C8 and it's the biggest reason for not making the move.
I'm willing to pay $$$ for someone to customize v8 for me to look/behave like v7.5.

It can be that the description is incomplete, but it says that like in Cubase 8.5 there are 8 bundled instruments and there is a sampler track - so I guess no sampler as a separate instrument? I can't image how is it supposed do work?ghettosynth wrote:koolkeys wrote:And to be fair though, those two items are listed on the Cubase ARTIST page. The Pro page doesn't list them. Yep, I'm just setting myself up for disappointmentMy guess is that with this sampling track that there is going to be more focus on the songwriting tools that they've been putting in over the last few releases. I hope that there's more there in that department.

Well, as long as we're speculating for fun, my guess is that it's something about working sample loops into your workflow. My guess is that it's somehow targeting Live customers while remaining somewhat Steiny. Frankly, I don't want "yet another sampler." I've very happy with Kontakt as my main sampling tool and AIR Structure as a second tool for certain kinds of quick instrument creation. Between the various drum samplers and Reaktor, I just don't need anything from them in terms of new sampling instruments.zyguli wrote:It can be that the description is incomplete, but it says that like in Cubase 8.5 there are 8 bundled instruments and there is a sampler track - so I guess no sampler as a separate instrument? I really hate Kontakt for sound designing. The interface is plain awful. I was hoping for a built-in sampler well integrated with Cubase environment. TBH Groove Agent 4 SE needs just a couple features to be suitable for melodic instruments - like key following and portamento.

Looks like next Monday then. I suppose I could activate my upgrade safely, but I have enough work to do as it is.zyguli wrote:https://www.woodbrass.com/en-dz/steinbe ... 34330.html
