There of course was a heavy discussion about this back in June as I remember:

Apart from the pitch shifter that is, Falcon can only do Midi pitch shifting via scripting.Sampleconstruct wrote:Yes, you could build this Falcon in no time.wagtunes wrote:Falcon

I've recently moved and most of my gear is in storage at the moment, but Falcon seems like an interesting comparison. When I'm set up again, I think I'll have to try putting it up against the A6 and see how they compare. Of course, Falcon can't match the immediacy of all those knobs, but I bet the sound can come close.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Having heard the Andromeda in person, I honestly can't say there is anything dedicated that comes close to the sounds it can make in software. You might be able to mimic the sound of it with other existing software products, but to get a 1:1 copy with the same architecture in software and still have the sound? Well I don't know of anything myself.
Sure, It's not impossible if you want to build the same architecture using a modular system, because you could rebuild it with something like Falcon etc.
The one thing you won't be getting is the unique characteristics of the analog circuitry within the Andromeda. I would absolutely love to see a developer take the time to do a dedicated build for the Andy!!
Actually If I could nominate a developer who I think would do this well, I would say Cytomic, Synapse Audio or U-he.
I imagine it would be a monumental undertaking, but if the team was big enough and had the funding and expertise I'm sure they could come pretty close.
If you look at the picture, you can see the 3 modulation options for each module. It's pretty impressive actually. You can edit quite a bit more with the screen too.

I've heard plenty of the purists who say that the Andromeda was a good idea, but it was poorly executed because the components they used were sub-par. I still think it sounds better than lots of analog modelling software though

A few years ago a fellow kvrian posted some A/B's between Andromeda and Cypher. If I remember correctly, he also used some eq on the software synth. But the final result was exceptionally close.

Unfortunately not available anymore. Shame, would have been interested in that. On topic of the Andromeda, which i only heard on sound demos, it kind of reminded me of the Virus a bit sometimes. At the very least, i didn't find it to be the most "analog" sounding synths, but, what do i know.izonin wrote:A few years ago a fellow kvrian posted some A/B's between Andromeda and Cypher. Other people have described it's sound as vst-like, too.chk071 wrote:Unfortunately not available anymore. Shame, would have been interested in that. Aren't these two very different synths you are comparing Andromeda with? Hive is more "digital" (cold) sounding and Saurus more "analog" (warm) sounding?Dúnedain wrote:Hives by U-He
