noiseboyuk wrote:zvnex - sigh, the point is you can't have a fader and the send at the same time. There's little point in making it higher, because it can't show anything useful. And all the while it hogs half the project window.
ghettosynth wrote:I really don't understand the complaining about this. It's completely optional. The old mixer is right there exactly where it was before, EXACTLY WHERE! You don't ever have to use the lower mixer but on my screen you can make it quite small and still have a row of faders. It's no smaller or larger than the similar row of faders in Ableton or Reaper.
Well, most people do seem to be just disabling it once they've figured out how to do it. The reason why its upsetting is that it's ANOTHER huge waste of scant developer resources. It's their #1 selling point for C9, supposed to address the #1 item on the request list - better windows management. It doesn't fulfil that for anyone on a laptop or multi-screen.
Not because it is not useful for you means it is a waste of time.
It doesn't fulfill that for you!!!

How did you ascertain that most people are doing so?

Such sweeping generalizations......
I read that Cubase 9 was incompatible with UAD.
I investigated and found that one person had an issue which they solved by reinstalling their UAD software, but it was repeated at least ten times here and gearslutz so it became 'fact'.
I get it doesn't work for you, but you have no idea what most people are doing (unless you work for the NSA or something :-))

Not to mention the fact that the mixer still doesn't recall it's width properly. Which was bug which existed prior to this zone feature thing. Which, in a nutshell, is kinda what is turning people off about this update.
Do you work with templates?
It does save the width properly if you save it to whatever size you want it to in your template(s).

Hi,
First thing I would do is temporarily move the Defaults.xml file to my desktop from my Cubase 'preference' folder and restart Cubase.
Second thing if that doesn't work is try to start Cubase in 'safe' mode.

I did both of those already. Any other possibilities?

Have you tried starting Cubase as administrator (in case you are on a PC)?

Yes, actually, I do - but that's not the point.

Yikes, so that usually eliminates a corrupted preference.
And you of course have tried restarting the computer?
Is your audio hardware internal or external?
If external I would disconnect it and restart Cubase.
Are you on mac or pc btw?
And does 8.5 still work without issues?

So when is not saving the width properly?
Is it if you work on a project, set the width a certain way save project when you reopen project width isn't saved?
Are you on 9.01?

Tried administrator, as well as trying to start cubase with my primary interface off (motu 1248). Everything still runs fine in Sonar and Pro Tools, and as I said it was working yesterday.

@vespesian
Hmmm. that isn't happening on my systems at all. It reopens in both Cubase 8.5 and 9 at the saved width, I sent you a PM.

Please check one thing for me, in your preferences menu, go to General and tell me what your Open Projects in Last Used View is set to.

Can you try with it disconnected rather than off and do you have Cubase 8.5 on your computer and if so does that still work fine too?

Thanks, but I wasn't really looking for tech support - :? - I was making a larger point about the apparent development path of the program (don't worry - another user is filing an official bug report to SB).

Ok just so you know it may be a local issue as certainly it doesn't happen on my system and a few others I have checked with since. So it may be an incorrect to attribute it as a bug are issues with 'apparent development path'.

I created a new project in 9.01, added some audio tracks, changed the width to 12, saved the project to my desktop with the name 12, and opened it in cubase 8.5 and guess what size it shows up as?

I found out what it was. For some reason Cubase does not like Process Lasso. It's funny that I didn't have this issue yesterday, and also don't have the issue with Cubase 8.5. Maybe it has something to do with conflicts when boosting Cubase's priority (although it still won't launch with boost off when process lasso is on). A minor annoyance, but at least it's working. Thanks to all who helped with troubleshooting.
