When you are spinning live, what do you do on your last track? I'm probably gonna spin my first live set this weekend (W00T!), and i don't know what to do. Do I just stand there like an ass, watching people dance from behind the decks?

start cleaning up for the next DJ maybe? or slam back a few more shots if things went poorly? or if they go really bad you could sneak out the back with your record case... (just make sure the last song isn't one you particularly love

Basically; yes.....Chase wrote:When you are spinning live, what do you do on your last track? I'm probably gonna spin my first live set this weekend (W00T!), and i don't know what to do. Do I just stand there like an ass, watching people dance from behind the decks?
But you can chat a bit with the follow up DJ, or talk with people in the crowd (if you didn't suck too much)
For the most since this is your first; enjoy it man, for it'll be over before you know it. Just make sure that you got your records back into the case and safe from liquids and all after you have passed on to the next DJ.

If you are on stage, puke on the crowd below.
When I'm on stage with my band I like to break fake blood capsules open in my mouth and drool "blood" all over myself while trying to look like I'm serious.

If you are on stage go to the front of it and shake hands and press the flesh with fans. They really like that. If you have merchandise like stickers, mix tapes or CDs, go out and give some out. this will make you wildly popular. you will get the reputation of being someone who if they go see they have a chance of getting something to take home. If you did well that is. If you didn't just make way for the next DJ.Chase wrote:When you are spinning live, what do you do on your last track? you're playing your first public set and your biggest worry is what you'll do with yourself for the last 5 mins of your set? Chill out, have a drink/smoke, and if anyone wants to come shake your hand they know where to find you. if you're anything like i was after my first set you'll feel so good that it's over that you won't care what you're doing(and now, a few years later... i feel good that its over cuz it means i get paid and can either leave/party

Pardon me - but do you also make a plan for going to the toilet? Why bother at all?

Throwing out CD's of myself is smart stuff; Ill do that.
OK so here's my plan: I will wait till my last track, start drooling fake blood on myself (seriously, that is HARDCORE) and then throw up all over the crowd. After that, i will Hendrix the decks and start juggling bloody knives. After the decks are melted enough to stop making noise completely, i will throw some CD's of my best mix out.
Sounds like a plan!
On a serious note, thanks for the good advise, guys. I'm still bloody nervous even thinking about it.

I tried that once but it didn't go down to well with my mum. Turns out fake blood stains a beige carpet!crazed one wrote:If you are on stage, puke on the crowd below.
