I'm looking for a VST host app that can sync to the MIDI clock from my MPC1000. I've currently got Cubase SX2, but this will only sync to MIDI timecode, not MIDI clock.
Thanks

I already asked this and made a lot of research on how to midi clock sync my VSTi ...
Solutions :
1/ Best one : Ableton Live 4
sync to midi, allows you to sequence VSTi as well
2/ Cubase 2.8 (midi only) allows midi clock sync, so you can sequence VSTi with it using internal pc midi patchbay like Huby loopback device, but you can only sequence VSTi which have a standalone-version (exemple : pro53, absynth, fm7 etc..)
and you need to find a copy of cubase 2.8 as well ...
-goog luck-
3/ the newest SpinAudio Virtual Mixing Console seems to accept midi clock sync (not tested yet) but as far as it's only a mixer you cant sequence your VSTis with it ...
No more choice !
So ... Get Ableton Live 4, the midi clock is rock solid with VSTis ...

Just to add one thing :
Ableton live 4 is not only rock solid as a midi clock slave, it's also the only single vsti sequencer which allows to ADD vsti to a realtime live project without loosing sync or audio ...
Big Up !

My MiniHost can also sync to MidiClock, but it is probably not what you are looking for...

The next version of AudioMulch will probably have this feature.
I've used a test-version and it seemed to be really smooth.

Your host with EnergXT would probably be a good solution for him/her.tobybear wrote:My MiniHost can also sync to MidiClock, but it is probably not what you are looking for...

I downloaded and tried Toby's Mini Host. Loaded up EnergtXT then set the extenal clock to midi in Midi Host. Played the arp from my AN1X and it worked perfectly
Midi Host and EnergyXT is a killer combo and I'll be registering MH when I get some money.
Nice one Toby!!!

I can't believe a hundreds of pounds so called high class midi sequencing app can't do this when a donationware app can.
(well yes I can actually - probably waiting for some poor schmuck to upgrade to version 3 which will have it promised in a future update)
Is this true of all the other "biggies" - Logic, Nuendo, Samplitude, Sonar?

I think Sonar can. It took me all of 5 mins to DL midi host, set it up and do what I posted. It would take me about that long to find the option in an of the bloatware music programs.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I checked out Toby Bear's Minihost, which worked great, but I mainly need something for sync'ed multitrack recording, as I want to record guitar and vocals over my MPC based tracks. For now I'll use SX without sync, but it would've been nice to use tempo sync'ed fx (buffer override, super trigger, etc) on the vocals and guitars.
Thanks.
Thanks.
