From what i know, VB303 generates random notes/events every time, when you actually put it into your DAW. But maybe i dont understand the question correctlyplastikbjo wrote:Found this amazing piece of software last weekend, and finally got everything interfaced and running using Audiomulch 2.0.3, VB 303 Control, and midiKeyboard this afternoon.
Question for the developer, one of the functions I loved with Rebith back in the day was the randomize function to create patterns. And I noticed that on 4/21/13 you posted that the randomize function was broken so you disabled it.
Do you have any suggestions on how to generate random notes/events in the sequencer?
Thanks for making such a wonderful sounding emulation of the 303. It sounds so much nicer than Rebirth did!
Finally: Venom VB-303 v1.00

Was looking for a free bass synth for an 80’s style track I am working on and came across VB-303 and this thread so just want to share my experiences and give some encouragement and thanks to Antto.
I installed on Reaper 5.0 x32 and the midi play and render functions work with no problems (sure you have to enter the code a few times sometimes but this just reminds me of the sort of UI silliness that was common in Japanese consumer products of the time hehe). But it does not reset on stop, start, render or anything like that. Note that I tried this only out of curiosity since obviously the point of an emulation like this is the sequencer
As for the GUI, not really a problem either, I just switched to a lower resolution while I familiarised myself with it.
Anyway, the plug looks like a lot of fun and I look forward to experimenting with the sequencer. So good on you Antto for following your dream over the years and making the synth that you wanted that you knew no one else would! Personally I think it is fantastic and has heaps of character and charm compared to the endless stream of “vintage” compressors, channel strips etc, that seemed to get churned out endlessly.
So in closing, please continue to ignore the noobs and the naysayers and all the best with your future projects
Cheers,
provoc

I think most VB-303 users are grateful for this fine gift and like it as it is.

Hey everyone!
I am exploring Venom and I like a lot the sound that I hear from it. I am playing around with it in FLStudio 12. I read the manual, I watched tutorials, however no matter what I do - when I enter the notes into the pattern - they are not remembered.
Also during the notes insertion lights on VB-303 blink abnormally - like, instead of showing the position of the note in the pattern - it shows weird patterns. And then when I press "Function" - nothing happens. The pattern stays empty.
Perhaps someone else has the same problem and found the fix? Or maybe I am making a common mistake (which I hope, since it is bad to know that for my setup VB-303 is broken).

No. I am using a MIDI out channel which triggers VB-303 to play. In other words, I am using FLStudio internal midi keyboard to trigger VB-303 functions.
In fact, just several minutes ago I managed to write something to VB-303, but as I tried again - there is again no notes. I thought that maybe I need to enter TIME information first. I entered randomly ties, gates and rests, then entered 4 notes. Each time I would press a note, VB-303 would play it and 3 lights would light for some reason. So I could enter only 4 notes per 16 length pattern. It then played it. But my subsequent tries failed. I am entering notes - playback is silent.

Mutant - ok, my bad.
First, step sequencer was probably set to 3/4.
Second, I did not pay enough attention and did not put any gates in, hehe.
Now works fine. This is the best software emulation of TB-303. Fascinating. Thanks Anton for his work, this is superb!

Nice.
Btw. I often use it with Simulanalog JCM900 (instead of just any overdrive pedal sim)

Thanks! So far I just put delay on it. But I am thinking to actually record VB-303 sessions and put all the drums and stuff later, because several times already when I would edit other instruments, VB-303 would suddenly "reset" to some default pattern. I of course saved patterns, but it's kinda weird. I am not sure this is too reliable

Hey!
I really went through this topic, but didn´t find solid answer to question: Did anybody find a way how to work with VB-303 in ableton live? If did, can you show me please? I saw someone with idea of 2 midi controllers, but I got just 1. Thanks for answers

Wildfunk wrote:Please fix that! It's really a pain to use the VB303 with MidiPlay... also when reloading the whole project.antto wrote:MidiPlay mode is locked on purpose
it prints 4 numbers, you have to enter those numbers but subtracted from 9
if it prints 1428 you enter 8571, it should then print "okay" and it's unlocked
if you fail to do it from the first time - switch to another mode, then back to MidiPlay and retry
once unlocked - use the "Trigger" channel to play notes
this is not a bug, it's on purpose, i encourage you to use the internal sequencer instead

You just enter (in your case) 2228 no need to Jump to the next digitJUMPProjects wrote:Which key I must press to jump to the next digit, when I entering the code???? I tried all possible keys, but the number is always on the first digit (Cubace Elements 8/64bit/Win10).
