Lol, nope. We are actually putting the exciters, resonators and bodies of the drum modeling project into Zebra to improve on it's physical modeling capabilities. For Z3.

Hello KVR Friends

Here is a late SuperBooth 2016 video about a future product of U-he. It's a physical modelling drum Synthesizer but announced as research project. Some users ask Urs about a future drum machine and maybe this is the beginning :) I opened a new topic here because I don't find really a big video about this development and I think it could be interesting for a lot users here what Uhe is currently cooking in their synth labs ;)

Cheers
Tom
Synth Anatomy

I say, have a front page be the synthesis/modeling page and the second page (or tab) be the sequencer. A third for the presets.

Then color code each synthesis module, with a different colour, possibly user selectable. Then, the horizontal tracks in the sequencer, are also color coded the same colour, representing each module in the sequencer.

For ease and quickness of use.

It's an ongoing project by one of our guys. We haven't decided yet what to do with it

To clarify: While we *hope* to improve Zebra's physical modeling capabilities with this, doesn't mean these elements will ever be 1:1 in a public version of Zebra. We're just moving the algorithms into an internal version of Zebra, as opposed to the current development plug-in.

Those incomplete cymbals are delicious! :)
This has to be the most realistic physical drum model in existence and I look forward to it's sonic madness.
I hope you configure the parameter edges to allow us to 'break' the equipment (super loose snares?, odd shaped cymbals).. Mmm

I wonder if the MODO drum thing (when it is finally released) is comparable..

if you’re referring too MODO Bass from IK Multimedia, most elements are circuitry modeling, all in all it seems to be a more charted area, so likely less difficult to achieved something realistic and convincing as an electric, amplified bass rather than en entire drum set…

i'll do an obnoxious second post -

i consider using PMS to be one of the most inspiring, and informative synthesis experiences.

if you were to release a freebie at any stage, even very limited, your reputation would inspire who knows how many thousands of users to see synthesis as procedural, and therefore attainable, rather than mysterious and inaccessible. you could bolster an entire generation to improve their mathematics!

Dont mean to revive an old thread but I've been really enjoying Repro-1 & 5, zebralette, tyrell...basically everything U-he does is an absolute joy to use, and the thought really shines through. I love microtonic to bits, but I think if U-he put out a drum synth that took the best elements of microtonic and drumatic 4...I wouldnt need to buy another instrument ever again. You just KNOW it would sound amazing and have an enjoyable UX.

As the project is huge and costs are exploding, we're currently looking into funding options. That in itself is unfortunately yet another thing that drags on forever.

Thankfully we can do a few other fun bits in the meantime.

Anyway, I think the door is open for something like an Absynth clone, but I guess you guys just don't have the time with all the other research and development going on (i.e., Cat, Oberheim mashup, etc.).
By Absynth clone, do you mean works with samples?

I demo'd Fxpansion Tremor last night out of curiosity, I think U-he could combine something like that with microtonic and destroy the competition.

I'm at a stage where I dont have a lot of disposable income for software, but certain developers I have no issue paying for, U-he being one of them. Tremor had irritating graphics glitches from the first second i started using it and they seem to have been an issue for years, for the price they are asking there is no way I would buy it.

I'm also wanting a drum machine plugin done well, nothing exactly hits the spot, I'd love to see what U-he would do differently.
