Poly KB v1 to v2 upgrade was free.

"All owners of the previous version of PolyKB can upgrade to PolyKB II for free"
http://www.kvraudio.com/news/xils_lab_r ... izer_15561

So here is hoping upgrade from v2 to v3 will follow the same path then :D

Yes, it will. Hopefully stable for PKB III V1.0.

Yes I already answered to that at the beginning of this thread (and gave the reasons for that) . It won't be free. But fair, yes, certainly. You'll judge.

If the Xils v3 to v4 upgrade pricing can be taken as guide, I will upgrade straight away. €29 is a very fair price

Hm cool.
(Maybe then also can do for v2? Well, if the essence of issue more explored now, perhaps it will not difficult to fix in there also, would be cool)

Somehow I don't think they will update v2.x any longer after the release of v3

Well, it's would be rather as a fix, than update. Although, i understand, somewhere maybe you're right. But, there is exist for example both version of Xils (2 & 3) with support.
And again - why not if it will not difficult (while it detected), I hope it can't be principal position - do not update the previous version (but fresh enough). Also, perhaps new version will be significantly different from v2, who know, so, i very like v2, let here also exist working step play mode )

(Something I would like to say a few words but it turned out a lot  )
Although of course, as it will be for author, well, sad if no.

Compatibility and maintenance updates only for PolyKB II.5. Feature wise, it will stay like it is : Perfect, ... but less perfect than version III 8)

I think it's important to say again that : The PolyKB II will NOT be sold anymore after the PolyKB III is released, ie in a few days.(So the last chance to buy it is before December 21st, with the Last sale event)

However, you'll still be able to use the PKB II.5 if you upgrade to PolyKB III : They will be tied by the same licence, will share the same preset directory (100% upward compatibillity), BUT will still appear as two distinct synthesizers in your Daw.

It can be taken as a -global- guide.

This is only my opinion, but thought I would share this, as I shared it with Xils team a long time ago :

If you make very fair updates with meaningfull and musical added features and affordable price, company will get nearly 100% of the users who will upgrade, and, equally important, 101% of happy and satisfied users. It probably won't make the company 'rich', but it will hopefully pay at least for all the additionnal work.

Now, if you decide to milk users to make fast money, you'll possibly make more money at once, but in the same time decimate both your user base and credibility, and overall users satisfaction. In the long term, I think it's certainly not a satisfying situation for both sides.

So, it's a choice. Or a philosophy.

Amen to that!
I will never ever upgrade my D Cam Synth Squad because of the money grabbing way they split the bundle up and then charged an unbelievable amount of money for the update of one synth.
Looking forward to the PolyKB update.

Thanks :)

And the good news ( for c_voltage- ) are that the Step Play Mode for the Polysequencer will be available for both v 2.5.2 -not yet released- and for PolyKB III. A smart use for that play mode can be some chord memory function for example. ( each time the sequencer receive a note on, it will play one step further, and can generate a new chord, if some different chords has been programmed in it)

Sounds good ! Thanks. (interesting will to try).
(btw Laurent would be good to repair the same mode in SynX2, if i understand correctly)

Sure. But one thing at a time :)

For using the sequencer as a Chord Memory Bank that you can trigger on the fly , yes it will be nice I think. Especially because you can save your own sequencer presets, so it could be nice to quickly build some kind of custom chord progressions.

OK, that sounds very promising!
It's a kind of Supersized Step Sequencer on steroids. So, suitable to make all kind of *standard* TranceGate effects. And much more.

I thought some people would spot it in the few audio clips I made with the PolyKB, but maybe the presets were a bit too shy/polite to properly show that.
Should I mention something else that I tried to show in these demos ?

The PolyKB III will offer a 3rd oscillator. In the golden years of HW analog synthesizers, very few offered 3 oscillators, like the Minimoog. And most of those wich did were monophonic synthesizers.

Nowadays, things didn't change that much that one could think. Few -authentically sounding- Polyphonic VAs offer 3 oscillators (+ Noise). And if you add the quality (Almost aliasing free), and the Morphing possibilities of the PolyKB oscillators, he might be the only one in this very private club :)
