That's exactly why I'm having a play; large doesn't fit and small does my eyes in. :)

I'm looking at just rejigging the large gui initially, probably lose the sliders to make it nice and compact.

I'm using the Reverb a lot recently, just seems to fit in my more ambient pieces better than even Valhalla VV. :-o

Small one too please! :tu:

Well, not really. I mean i was hard at work alright, but ive wasted hours making an all-caps font to go with the UI because the only free fontmaker i found that actually worked was (is) still a bitch to operate. But i do have a working font now, so at least it wasnt totally for nothing.

As to whats planned; like ive indicated earlier, the UI will definitely be wider and less tall aspect-wise since consumer monitors are usually more wide than tall as well. (Personally i know of none that arent.) It might turn out overall larger than the default large anyway, (i will probably want to have bigger knobs with scales around them), but thats something that remains to be seen. Speaking of knobs, i have also began to convert most of the sliders to knobs since the sliders dont allow for much control-precision unless they are really long/tall. (Resolution of sliders is determined by length of throw, so the shorter they are the coarser the control will be.) With knobs this is different because Leslie was kind enough to provide a resolution parameter for them. I can therefore set the control-resolution myself, so regardless of what the knob-diameter is ultimately going to be, it will provide maximum control-precision at a fraction of the screen estate a slider would require for that. In my judgement thats definitely the better solution in this case. (Right now i have knobstrips with 300 frames at 300 resolution, which seems close to optimal to me. But of course this will all be finetuned once i have the new layout done.)

As to 'when', i really cant say at this point. It will probably be a while though since you cant just whip up a new layout 'on a whim' in a couple of hours and except it to be good. This needs to be thought-through, how to group stuff, the order of stuff from left to right and top to bottom, all this needs repeated testing and checking-out and therefore time. So all i can really say at this point is that im on it, but that it probably wont be finished anytime soon since after all i am starting completely from scratch. (Which of course is very different from simply swapping a few images.) I will keep you posted.

Thanks ENV1, I for one appreciate all the hard work you put into your GUIs. Not trying to rush you in the least bit, I know it must be a ton of work. It's just that I have the utmost confidence that the final result will be highly functional and visually pleasing as well. Les is very responsive so maybe you two can work together to make skinning as user friendly as is practical. Anything I can do to help with testing etc please let me know. I'm more than happy to help in any way I can. Thanks again. :)

Has PWM been changed in the new version?

I've set both OSC to sawtooth, but OSC1 only gives a saw while OSC2 gives a square, and I can't find a switch.

Post

Try Cobalt 4. There is a PWM switch for each Osc if that's what you mean ? I am getting Square Waves on both Oscs too with PWM. I have to work with it some more to figure out what's going on. Perhaps it's intended behavior.

The LFO delay don't works if the LFO is used to modulate the Pan. Intended so?

I completely forgot that I've done changes to skin on the first day.
:D
I just changed the original, made it lighter and was changing saturation and made for me some grungy looking skin.
These are all .png files which I used to replace with Resource Hacker.
I didn't download Cobalt4 yet, to see the difference. Maybe this weekend...

Hey, if it's OK with Leslie, I can share the PSD for the original design if you guys would find that useful. This way you could open the original stuff right in Photoshop (it's organized and stuff) so you could edit in the native way vs. trying to change raster images you could modify source.

LMK it's great to see Cobalt getting some much deserved attention. WTG Les!

OK spoke with Les. He's cool with it.

Here is the source UI including PSD files.

Expect no support for this, but they should open OK. For the knob I used RLH Knob Renderer Pro and that no longer works in the new PS AFAIK. However, it'd be easy and trivial to use a script or knobman for this newschool era of skinners. :)

See you guys, have fun!

Hmm, I'll check for a bug, I know at one point the switches were missing; I added them back. I'll check to make sure the right ones are hooked up.

It's a little strange. I create a square wave in Cobalt by inverting the sawtooth waveform and offsetting it against the original sawtooth by 50% of a cycle. That creates a square waveform. So to get a square waveform, you turn on PWM (but use no modulation) and set the pulse width to 50%. The idea was that in setting it up this way, you could apply PWM to any waveform.
