Auto Write Volume Automation To Selection in Cubase?

Is there any way to do this? Let's say I select an 8 bar section in my song and I make adjustments to the mix using the mix console. Is there a way for Cubase to automatically write automation to the beginning and end of the selection so as to keep all track volumes as I set them in that selected range? I tried a bunch of different things, but they didn't work. I understand the fact that you can go to each automation track and do this manually, but I'm thinking there might be a way to do it automatically and I'm just not getting it. I read the manual and was totally confused as to whether or not it can be done. Hopefully one of you guys know how to do this? Thanks.

If you can do manually first I think of is make a macro and connect to a keyboard shortcut - and a series of operations can be made. Really powerful stuff.

I'm not 100% sure what you want to do - if to lock for changes in a range or similar, so leave my comment at this.
Since you have offset mode of automation, and also VCAs that could change the total at a position - don't know unless you lock it.

In sonar there were something called snapshots, that could catch positions of a number of settings. But searched Cubase manual there is nothing with that name. But there might be.

Thanks lfm for your response! I found it later on. It works like a charm. This is why I love Cubase. Even though it's a little bit harder to find exactly what you want to do sometimes, it's amazingly flexible for all sorts of working styles, and with that flexibility offered, there is a learning curve that goes with it. I was looking at other stuff and missed this:


Activating Loop
PREREQUISITE You have set up a loop range with the left and right locators.
PROCEDURE
1.On the Automation Panel, activate Touch, and activate Loop to activate it as Fill option.
2.Start playback.
3.Move the fader until you have found the volume setting that you need and release the fader to punch out.
The found value is set within the range that is defined by the left and right locators.


I totally blew off the "Automation Panel" by mistake. Now I know that it is a very powerful feature when it comes to setting up automation behavior in Cubase.

Yep. That's what I meant in the other discussion, some things like that which nobody seems to ever ask for, the fills, and in the case of Nuendo, previews. I have a kind of perpetual Nuendo 5 demo here that I use but IIRC, some of that stuff is in Cubase also.



That's where the automation discussions kinda go off the rails at times, focusing only on a few specific things like beziers, and not the systems as a whole, overall. From my admittedly cursory demos of some production daws, you can't even do simple things like punch automation, at all. The shiny stuff gets more attention.

I definitely get what you're saying. After delving more into the Cubase automation thing, I found out that they set it up to cater to many different ways of working. You can basically do anything you need to do with automation in Cubase, it's just finding out which nomenclature they use, and then finding out how to do it. It doesn't always work in that order though.
