One instance of Avenger layering multi-sampled, processed Nepalese bells with an FM pluck sort of thing, some Macro/modwheel automation, 100% Avenger.

I checked, in reaper with the GUI NOT showing, same result.godly wrote:noiseboyuk wrote:Godly - I'm shocked that you found 400 oscillators CPU-hungry.
To add to my suspicions that you may not be doing this synth justice, you save a preset under the Memory tab (unless you are using the demo I guess).Thx guys !sircuit wrote:Go to Memory button for saving presets.
As for the CPU hit, I suspect that the GUI is killing your CPU because you're having a weak video card (so the CPU takes the hit that GPU will do with a dedicated card) and this synth needs a gaming one apparently. See if you minimise the GUI, if the CPU hit drops in half or something.
So what is the right click SAVE for (on the preset name in the list) ?
It's not logical that you need a gaming PC with hi end graphics card.
Still, I cannot express enough, I'm soooo looking forward to start working with this synth.
Afterall, that's what I payed for.
As I adviced before, it might be better if you could choose between a fixed low performant GUI and the scalled vector GUI?
Also, check my CPU meter on the right, it's not in red?
Haha, yes I'm used to synth1, not so much OSC there
Maybe I'm getting to old for this shit. Or my PC at 3 Ghz

I have the same processor and a dedicated graphics card (I do not use the GPU, so Avenger takes full advantage of the processing power of the A8-3870 K) and I have the same problem.godly wrote:We could be so in love, but even playing with 2 fingers is to much for her
OSC up to 400 ! CPU hit up to 200% in VPS
1 note:
Beat: 36 OSC
Lead: 36 OSC
VPS still has lots of work on their queen.
I would like to love this synth, but I guess we have to wait some more months until the real problems are solved.
I think the presets should all be checked, because some some presets use 7 OSC/voice, while you can have the same result with 3 with detune.
In this example I lowered most OSC to 3 instead of 5 or 7 voice and the difference is enormous !
But still not enough to be played.
Also another problem: I cannot SAVE a preset? Right click save does not work?
Please VPS, get a team together that can solve these problems in a short period because you guys a re losing customers by the minute !
And to be honest, it breaks my heart because this could be a great product !

As I can't find any info about this topic, lease enlighten me: when importing my own multi-samples into Avenger (I now prepare all samples in 44.1/24 Bit, as AV can't handle other sample rates) the original size is compressed after the conversion procedure and the resulting multi-sample file saved into my user library is much smaller than the original size. So what sort of compression is this? FLAC maybe or some custom format? And is it really lossless?
Also I noticed that transposing samples down by more than 1.5 octaves introduces heavy aliasing, like really heavy, the sound of the early 90s - could a higher interpolation mode be implemented please so we could chose?

of course Avenger can handle 16bit, too
the compression is a cusotmized ZIP compression, of course lossless

I know we can import wavetable. Can we take a sample and take the single waveshape of it? not as wavetable?msvs wrote:of course Avenger can handle 16bit, too

Great, thanks! I kept looking everywhere on the Drum (osc) page and the Drum Seq and Edit page, never thought to go check out SYS -- but I'm glad it's there, thanks for the heads up.msvs wrote:mholloway wrote:Hi guys,
LOVING this synth, but quick question -- is there a way to make the drum samples play back in one shot mode? The default seems to be a gate mode, e.g. a quick press of the key means a clipped version of the samples plays back -- am I missing a toggle so the entire drum sample gets triggered on any kind of key press?
thanks!

of course this is possible! On the SYS page tab there is a setting for this: "DK Midi mode stops sample yes/no"

I searched the manual for you, so you don't have to RTFM yourself:Coockie1176ln wrote:all this rtfmSampleconstruct wrote:Read about shapes in the manual.Coockie1176ln wrote:I know we can import wavetable. Instead of choosing a folder (as with multisamples), creating osc shapes requires you to select a single wav file to import. Click on your chosen wav with the right mouse button and then choose the destination path in Avenger's library where you wish to import the osc shape to. An osc shape needs to be exactly the length of one waveform cycle. Please make sure that the waveform is cut cleanly and that there are no audible clicks at the beginning or end. However, you may intentionally want such clicks to create more overtones. After importing you can use the waveform in Avenger’s engine, totally alias free.
Avenger can also create new shapes internally. As soon as you have created an interesting waveform, you can create a new shape preset simply by right-clicking the central display and selecting “create shape”. The currently shown shape will then be added to your Avenger osc shape presets after naming it and setting the destination folder. Your new osc shape is available to be used from then on.

I've bought lots of plugins through Digital River. Never had a download link with an expiration date or limited number of downloads AFAIK. In fact certain Digital River vendors I've bought from don't have user accounts on their sites, and the only way to get your plugins is through the DL link in your e-mail. I've come back weeks, months later and still been able to download. I suspect it has more to do with the size of the Avenger library, seeing as it's up there in the GBs. Spectrasonics charges $10 per additional download of Omnisphere 2, but then that's 40GB and I don't think the boxed version is $12 extra.Naenyn wrote:I've wondered about this for a while myself. I've never not been able to download what I needed when I needed it, so I haven't really worried about it. I wonder if it is standard operating procedures for ShareIt/DigitalRiver, the eCommerce site that handles payments?Razzia wrote:The download insurance outlines that it allows you to download Avenger for up to six months after purchase. What it doesn't say is why this would be necessary. Do you only get one download after paying $200 and if it gets interrupted you're just... out of luck? It also says it doesn't entitle you to download updates. I have no idea what that means. Can someone explain to me what kind of licensing policy this is?
I'd like to get a response about this from someone from VPS.
Edit: I didn't read between the lines here, that you evidently have Avenger and you are able to DL it when you need it. I guess that's that. Thanks.
