The Favorite 2016 Softsynth Is...

I've spent most of the year, moving away from soft synths and back to hardware, but the upgrade to Arturia's V Collection 5 for $99, pulled me back for a few weeks. I am blown away by the Synclavier V. If you already have it-- look for the timbre share FaceBook page, that Cameron Jones created. Join the group, and download the myriad of .synx files that folks are sharing. These are not presets.. but building blocks for the Synclavier V. While it hasn't been upgraded in years - u-he Zebra is always in my top 3... So my picks for 2016 are:
1. Roland JD-XA
2. Arturia Synclavier V
3. U-He Zebra

You're right!Cinebient wrote:I tryed Oddity 2 but i find the Arp Odyssei a lot better in terms of sound and especially GUI.exmatproton wrote:? you mean on iOS others suck? Because we have the Oddity2 as wellCinebient wrote: #3: ArpOddyssei (iOS): The unison just sounds so fat and the other emulations sucks against this
Of course i wish i could have ArpOdyssei as AU/VST....but that will not happen
What an awesome little synth!:

For some reason, i tend towards The Legend and ArcSyn the last couple of weeks.
However, i really think i can't point out 1 best 2016 synth this year (last year was very easy for me; Falcon).
2016 had some awesome births of new and powerful synths;
Icarus
ArcSyn
PolyKB III
Predator 2
Rapid
Avenger
The Legend
Factory
Repro-1
Phonec2
Free; Helm, OBXD (out of beta), PG-8X (out of beta), the quooo
Really hard for me to pick one to be honest...great year for plugins

And 2 days in the new year and first purchase already
But i finally could not resist P900.
The developer even answered my dumb question yesterday within a few hours....so it was deserved!
So i take back my previous choices and to sum the year up i put P900 to my favourite of 2016 (even when i bought it in 2017) followed by Dust!
There are more good ones, indeed a good year for plug-ins (not good for me maybe).

ArcSyn
All the others enter the arena to be the best, the most powerful, ... you name it.
ArcSyn is the outsider. It's the candidate for Favorite 2016 synth that gets no comparison remarks or threads.

I feel a bit let down by Softube Modular.
The sound is great and the potential is clear, but it was launched with the promise of "many more" authorized emulations of eurorack hardware modules being made available to buy - but there's been nothing since the intellijel stuff at launch, and it's over 6 months now.
