Basically this. Melodyne 4 essential offers pretty much the same thing as VariAudio does. Though the caveat is that should you choose Melodyne 4, Cubase Pro will lose a selling point for you as an upgrade, if you plan to do it in future.

Thanks for your answers.
So aside the better integration of VariAudio, I shouln't expect better quality than melody 4 essential?

There's the consideration between the cost of a 3rd party pitch correction software, and the cost of upgrading to Cubase Pro to get VariAudio. With Cubase Pro, you'll also get some extra bells & whistles with the upgrade price.

But for a 3rd party pitch correction, there's also Waves TUNE, which I've used/like. Never tried AutoTune, and only demoed Melodyne some years back, but I didn't understand it at the time.

Waves Vocal is currently on sale. Plugindiscounts has it at very close price to melodyne essential. It includes the full waves tune (not the limited LT version) + some other useful vocal-related plugins.

Nothing beats VariAudio for integration though, and IMO, by buying 3rd party pitch correction software, the Pro upgrade lose a big portion of its value. That's something you might want to consider as well.
