Who's getting the new Wave Alchemy Revolution Drum machine?

Been playing with the demo and I'm enjoying it. Could see myself using this as a workhorse solution for drums, despite it being a Kontakt instrument (I rarely use Kontakt). Very good all-in-one package, as far as I can tell.

Thank you for the feedback and kind words.loungepanda wrote:Been playing with the demo and I'm enjoying it. Could see myself using this as a workhorse solution for drums, despite it being a Kontakt instrument (I rarely use Kontakt). Very good all-in-one package, as far as I can tell.
If you like the demo, you will love the main version
Just to clarify, the release version will be a Kontakt Player instrument, meaning it will load into Kontakt's library tab and also be fully NKS compatible.

Aha, cheers. That looks really cool.jbuonacc wrote:yes.Echoes in the Attic wrote:... Does this sequencer have a full pattern view?

Has anyone noticed how you put in flam or rolls in the sequencer? Waiting for the manual to download...

Read the manual. Couldn't find anything about rolls in the sequencer.

To create flam type sounds, please read this part of the manual:Echoes in the Attic wrote:Read the manual. Couldn't find anything about rolls in the sequencer.
Sequencer Slop - This randomizes the Global Slop value of each Sequence Step. This value can be offset on individual steps by using the Slop Step 1-32 Controls above the Sequence Lanes.
Sequence Slop - This controls the Flam Time or 'Slop' for Step 1. Positive Values cause a delay between each step from Kick Drum 2 to Percussion 4. Negative Values cause a delay between each step from Percussion 4 to the Kick Drum 2. Kick Drum 1 is not effected by this control.
This replicates the flam functions as seen on many vintage drum machines. It is located on the sequencer page below global accent. Each drum can be pre-delayed or delayed per step, thus giving flam type sounds. I hope this helps.

Believe it or not the answers to those questions are in this thread. A whole page back (in a two-page thread).electro wrote:Is this a successor to Transistor Revolution? Are there upgrade paths and what is the intro price?

Yes I did see that section, but felt dumb because I didn't understand it. Probably my ignorance about what flam is actually supposed to do. I thought it was like a slight roll but I guess not. It just delays a note a bit? Is this to be able to hit two different drum sounds with a bit of separation?wave alchemy wrote:To create flam type sounds, please read this part of the manual:Echoes in the Attic wrote:Read the manual. So no roll function eh? That would be cool to have a roll button per step. Maybe delay automation on a single drum could do the trick. Don't know yet what kind of parameter sequencing is there...

Yes, Flam in Revolution moves each step closer or further apart from the next / previous in order to give a flam / slop type sound. We may tweak this a bit more before release dateEchoes in the Attic wrote:

When you say 'roll', are you referring to creating simple drum rolls? If so, simply set the sequencer to 1/32 notes (the control next to the 'library' button, and you will be able to easily create quick snare rolls / drum rolls. Alternatively, you could MIDI drag and drop your pattern into your DAW, edit the MIDI pattern and create even more complex rolls if you so wish

I'm very interested in this. It says on the WA website that it will run in Kontakt Player. This is big to me since I don't have full Kontakt. Just to clarify, there aren't any restrictions running this in the Free Kontakt Player vs full Kontakt right? When Revolution is released, will there be a demo that can run in the Player?

This is correct. There will be no restrictions at all. It will work 100% in Kontakt Free Playerdplduffy wrote:I'm very interested in this. In fact you can actually use the current demo in Fee Kontakt Player, but it will time out after a certain amount of time - but once this happens you can simply reload it again. This will be good enough just to get a taste for the instrument...

So I thought the slop was per drum, no? Seems like it's a global thing from the videos. Also, about changing the grid resolution - If I've created a beat with the grid at 16th notes and switch over to 32nd notes, it won't double in speed will it? Hopefully it will move the pattern to the same positions over the 32nd note grid?wave alchemy wrote:Yes, Flam in Revolution moves each step closer or further apart from the next / previous in order to give a flam / slop type sound. Anyways - Looks like a great Classic Drum Machine to end all classic drum machines in the box. I may very well pick it up. Oh and does it allow you to purge unused samples? I'm not really sure how that works in Kontakt... but it seems like usually you'd only be using a tiny few samples out of the bunch in any given kit.
Oh and FYI - If this had a single drum instrument mode, I don't even think I'd need to think about it. Would you consider that? Like how polyplex has a single drum mode for using with Maschine on single pads or other drum racks, as well as the multi-sound kit. Super useful.
P.S. Sorry I'm not able to download the demo currently, hence the questions while the intro price is going on.

yes, it just doubles (or divides when switching to 1/8 or 1/4) the speed. you'd have to edit your pattern manually.Echoes in the Attic wrote:... about changing the grid resolution - If I've created a beat with the grid at 16th notes and switch over to 32nd notes, it won't double in speed will it? quite sure that it does, though i haven't tried it. i know you could do it with the older "revolution" instruments.... does it allow you to purge unused samples? I'm not really sure how that works in Kontakt... but it seems like usually you'd only be using a tiny few samples out of the bunch in any given kit.
looks like we've convinced Wave Alchemy to add a single (drum/percussion) instrument "module" at some point in the future. myself and a couple others weren't taking no for an answer on that, so they're now thinking about the best way to do it. probably won't be for a while though. these were included with 'Transistor Revolution I/II' and 'Digital Revolution', and (like you said) are perfect for using with Maschine and Ableton.... If this had a single drum instrument mode, I don't even think I'd need to think about it. Would you consider that?
