Ah, sorry, the other way around

I don't know SP, but used Dust for some time and i didn't like it. De-installed it. No chromatic keyfollow, not to be used (as of yet) as an insert effect (<--that would be really nice), annoying mod system with small finicky knobs and sliders and i didn't like the resample quality at all.

There are cool things for sure, like the 8 different layers, postitions of generators (in the field), sequencing and a nice convolver unit. But, for me, that's not countering the negative points.

Just received an update email.

Fixed Issues:
• AU Validation Failed in Logic
• More than one instance would cause a crash
• Activation issue in some Daws
• Missing sample (75 -Synth -Sansula.wav)
• Added double click to edit values
• File chooser remember last opened location.

Post

Doesn't say if there's a demo version yet.

if you assign a CC to an emitter property. does it only only affect the currently selected emitter?
i.e. i cannot change the property of an emitter which is not currently selected?

... also am i correct in saying there is no way, to select the current emitter by CC? (or automation)

(worst would be if the CC affects all emitters!)

what Id like to be able to do is to set (some) properties of each emitter by CC without having to touch the UI.
e.g. so I could external automate properties of each emitter independently.

note: Id like to do this with effectors too, but emitters are the most important for me....

ideally, what soundmorph would have done, is have each emitter on a separate midi channel, so sending the CC on different midi channels would affect different emitters. (and perhaps have a global channel (1?) , which works for all emitters)

Great, AU working now.
Dust > Kaleidoscope > B2 = :borg:  :borg:

I made a short test and it´s possible to use a midi cc for just one emitter (or different parameters) and using another for the next one.
Indeed it seems to listen to all channels but i have enough midi cc´s to assign a lot things.
I made also a short test with midi FX in Logic. Using several midi cc´s modulating different things from different emitters....works fine so far.
If i now find a way to make a few "tuned" presets (even if i have to use scales) i´m in heaven......or better said lost in space :D

Edit: It works also with the effectors....individually!
Short said....you can assign modulations via midi cc for each properties of the emitter individually and for the effectors too....more love!

Can you load a different sample into each emitter?

Post

yes

Post

Yes! after getting it I saw you can load a different sample per emitter - very nice

I sent feedback to them about random control. Hopefully they will add it. I love granular because of randomness of grain creating beautiful texture.

Nice, thanks for this! :tu:

A thing i don´t like is that if you change the pitch all already released and still decaying particles also jump the pitch.
So it´s def. not usable as playable "instrument" or "synth".
I hope the FX version comes soon and let me play just anything trough it in a chromatical way.
Sure this is meant more as FX rather than a musical or playable instrument.
Most granular synth/tools are indeed (beside borderlands granular which is the most creative of all these for me....sadly lacks these great binaural spaces).
I really would love to see a demo video of the FX version PLEASE!
I´m not sure how the live input works which is the most interesting part for me.

jc_vt wrote:Anyone familiar with Sound Particles (http://soundparticles.com/) willing to make a comparison? SP is more expensive and appears to have much more going for it, but I wonder how different the end product sound files are
I use Sound Particles a lot. It's like CGI for sound and is more geared towards sound design for cinematic stages. Its works offline exclusively, so you need to render the audio file. This way it is possible to have huge sound stages with thousands of particles moving in a 3D space with one or more mics (even them moving in time). There's an excellent implementation of the Doppler effect. Export is not only stereo but a whole range of configurations like quadraphonic 5.1, 7.1 and ambisonic.

Try it, maybe you like it

You can't easily compare it with Dust. SP is not a granular synth (it can do granular synthesis though).
Traveler from one enjoyable music experiment to another. :hyper:

Sound Particles, $300. Yeah, that's okay. I'll pass.
