For those of you who don't hate Christmas or winter in general. Post your favorites, so we can warm up our hearths for the big event tomorrow. I have two kids who hardly can wait and I am looking forward to spoil the crap out of them.

Here is my all time favorite Christmas song:

And when I mention winter songs as well, it is really to get the chance to post this endlessly magical and beautiful song from "The snowman". It still gives me the chills though I have heard it hundreds of times:

Only thing missing where I am is snow, but hey, can't always have it all.

The last section is very ambient.

Fairytale of New York is the only Christmas song I like. And I also think of Kirsty at this time of year. So sad.

These aren't Christmas songs. Winter songs, maybe, but not Christmas songs. Not by any means. THIS is a Christmas song:

Other favorites of mine: Adeste Fieles (O Come All Ye Faithful), Gloria in Excelsis Deo (Angels We Have Heard On High) and, of course, Stille Nacht (Silent Night). For me, Christmas is not a Holiday, it's a religious festivity, where we celebrate the born of Jesus Christ, and the music has to reflect that.

The older I get, the less I like winter and christmas

But I do prefer Wham or Frankie goes to Hollywood to the old classics...

The Wham is no Christmas song at all. The only thing it has to do with Christmas is the fact of mentioning Christmas in the lyrics (but they could as well have mention anything else). Don't even know the song of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, but I suspect it will be in the same vein. People seem to be ashamed of Christmas, yet they have no problem in taking advantage of the season to try to sell a little more... disgusting

I am not cynical, it's just that I am an atheist, so the Christian component of Xmas is simply a joke, and the heathen component from Northern Europe doesn't appeal to me either, as I hate winter weather.

I do think Wham's song is rather xmassy, the bells and everything, the video as well.

Will you please stop it here. Premise of the thread was not to hate Christmas. This is a thread for friendly Christmas thoughts and songs only. Do not derail it. That would be cynical if anything. You are of course forgiven for your sins but do me/us the favor and take control over the usual KVR habits.
