I was hoping to use dexed as a editor for my Volca FM from Cakewalk Sonar but it is not possible to enable midi out from it in the vst menu (it is greyed out).
Anybody know how to fix this?
Nevermind: Found it in Param section

Is this still an issue in the next version?asb2m10 wrote: As for the break, I didn't code that part... so I cannot tell. Did you test it yourself (I am telling this since testing right now with the real DX7 is somewhat complicated for me). If it is really 21, I'll put 21 cause it makes sens.

They are not there as such.. they are called 1234 each with its own level and time(rate:1=slow 99=fast) to reach set levelCaine123 wrote:am i too stupid? i cannot find the ADSR knobs? :/
Just call 1 attack, 2 decay, 3 sustain, and 4 release.

Hi, it's me again. Now I have found out, how to load banks from folders. It is not that simple, but it is possible. I loaded the zip file with several banks and patches, but now I am confused! There are so many sounds, and many of them I like because of their nostalgic sound, but my favorite I could not find in this big chest. I heard it in the demo of Dexed, it was that bell sound, that was often used in 80's christmas songs, like Bryan Adams or others. Can somebody tell me, maybe in a pm, what bank I have to use to find that sound? It would be great! Thanks allot in advance.

Tubular bells patch perhaps ? If so you will find it at patch #26 of the original Yamaha DX7 Cart Rom1A.

, stupid question, when i load a DX7 patch how is the playback quality? does it sound like i load the DX7 patch on a hardware dx7 or does dexed sound different? if so, how different?
are there comparisons maybe?

I only had the DX7 MKII FD, so I can't really compare to the original DX7, however listening to youtube DX7 patches, I can't seem to find any real vast difference between it an Dexed. I could be wrong though.Caine123 wrote:thanks a lot, i will try it out, stupid question, when i load a DX7 patch how is the playback quality? does it sound like i load the DX7 patch on a hardware dx7 or does dexed sound different? if so, how different?

I have two critical remarks about Dexed:
i won't touch those envelope knobs. (and i own an FS1R, a TG77, a Tx81z and an FB01)
Dexed could really use modern envelope editors like this:

but for now, there are other FM synths both virtual and hardware, that i reach for instead of Dexed because of this reason. I don't know how else to say it other than 'mouse fatigue.'
and secondly, the modwheel utilization is unsatisfying. vibrato isn't enough. A user needs to be able to map the modwheel to one or more of __any__ parameter. Heck, a user should be able to __morph__ between any two patches using the modwheel. The modwheel doing awesome stuff is one thing that will entice me to use Dexed more.
respect to the devs and contributors. I am not trying to piss on anybodys parade, but instead I am trying to make suggestions that will make dexed more of a go-to box in my opinion of course.

Which editor do you use for the TG77 that provides that modern envelope editor?
I do agree, a modern envelope editor wouldn't give anything away from Dexed being a truthful remake. But I praise the developers commitment to not implement new stuff before having finished everything else. That really takes stamina and makes Dexed special: it's not just another FM synth, it's the best DX7 replication there is.

I used two: Opcode Galaxy Plus and Emagic Sound Diver. I still use Sound Diver in Windows. A fantastic editor for the SY/TG series. Also has a module for the DX series.sebber wrote:Which editor do you use for the TG77 that provides that modern envelope editor?

kudos indeed to the devs for making well made great sounding, working software!sebber wrote:Which editor do you use for the TG77 that provides that modern envelope editor?

that said, i don't reach for Dexed yet to make FM sounds, although it is by far better than editing on an actual Dx7's built in interface, the knobs are a quite unfortunate solution because the eye needs to look back and forth hundreds of times in order to coordinate events. no reason to emulate that many knobs when one node can do the job of two or more knobs!
i would rather pipe this free DX7 editor into Dexed to edit envelopes than to use Dexed's knobs.

i'm really trying to help, not be a poo poo head.

Anyone has the sysex data of the patches from the PLG150-DX?
I know it's out there somewhere, because I have the patches as MOD-7 banks (.PCG) in my Kronos which are identical to my own PLG150-DX on my Motif ES (which apparently has no dump capability).
I'd love to have something that can be loaded into Dexed!
Some patches are only there. I browsed every available patch bank online, including the huge cart (v1.0).
