Big Seq sounds great but it is no where near as deep or flexible as Tantra or Stutter Edit. In its day there weren't too many rhythmic gaters out there in the commercial space and Big Seq was at the top of the heap. If it were a $15.00 plugin I'd recommend it but your $49.00 will go a lot further with Tantra or Stutter edit. There is another that I didn't mention that I also use; but it isn't intuitive ... MRhythmizer by Melda. Once you get the hang of it it is is deep and powerful but it puts your brain into engineer mode which may not be ideal when you are reaching for inspiration.

Here is a free one to try out.. http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2015/06 ... e-a1audio/

thanks for the info on Big Seq and Stutter Edit.

the A1TriggerGate – Free Rhythmic Gate VST/AU Plugin By A1AUDIO is one I will try!

Stutter Edit is a bit more than I want to handle and the midi input is not to my liking.

let me add this freebie
Anarchy Rhythms / Anarchy Effects

I have not tried it but the GUI looks rather interesting.

note that SE is very complicated and laborious to use or even setup, not for everyone, demo it first
but certainly a great complement to the more "traditional" timeline graphs of the others
Stutter Edit works differently than other audio effect plug-ins, it requires MIDI input from your host to trigger its effects. Not all hosts allow you to send MIDI to audio effects.

This will not be for me as I do not want to trigger effect from midi controller.

"complicated and laborious to use or even setup"
Looks like Stutter Edit is not for me.

edit: Part of the reason I am concerned about midi is that the only midi controller I have is
the 23" Multi-touch monitor using XotoPad http://feelyoursound.com/xotopad/
You can just draw in the trigger note(s) depending on how you want to use it...you don't have to play it live.

So turns out i like Tantra a lot.

Can anybody give a short review of the expansion packs?
Finally!

Looking at this but i can't see a way to change presets via midi. Feature request to have an assignable bank of presets with midi note trigger.

I could make a walk-through video, trying out a number of the presets from all the expansion packs (the factory ones and the 3rd party ones dimry sells on his site). I dont want to do it as a fancy demo video, but if a walk through of some random presets would be of interest, let me know and i'll put it together.

Hello Dmitry, I'm sure you're pretty busy with Thorn right now (awesome synth BTW and congratulations!) I was wondering if there's any update planned for Tantra? I'd really like a re-sizable GUI like Thorn. Thanks!

... and some filter models from Thorn thrown into Tantra ;)

Any new thoughts on this? I really want to pick it up...

Post

I just saw some videos on Youtube and absolutely loved how it mangles the sound. It is in my buy list now.

Is Dmitry still active with this or has Thorn taken over? :)

yeah, I think you'd dig it. It's my favorite sequenced filter as both CamelSpace and Adrenalinn Sync are no longer available. The filter itself sounds huge(as does the one in Thorn), the delay sounds great and the distortion is a monster - a little goes a long way.
Additionally, Dmitry is a cool cat who supports his products personally. Great customer support
expert only on what it feels like to be me

i'd say Diversion 2 is probably the next priority?
all in good time anyway ;)

hoping Dmitry caught the efficiency train and has plenty of good ideas to get the most out of his code. I can't find flaws in any of his plugins regarding quality of sound, just praying that Diversion 2 and Tantra 2 will use less juice than v1.

I've probably overlooked how to do this, and I can't find it in the manual, but is it possible to have the sequencer restart on each note played?

Post

Sorry to resurrect this thread guys, but I have a problem where Tantra won't initiate any step sequencing.

Unless I am missing a button somewhere, I load it up and hold down a note and it only sustains that. No sequencing, no cycling through the steps in the plugin. Nothing. The rest of the plugin still works though. I tried installing again but the problem persists. Any ideas? Running Cubase 10.5 on W10. Any help greatly appreciated! I loved this when it worked and Thorn is fabulous too.
