Does the Virus even have more bang in the envelopes? I'm actually quite happy with that on Spire.
Virus envelopes act somehow differently

Here is an example of a simple plucky patch in Virus, try following these steps in Spire you'll end up with a thinner sound with less pleasant, more clicky attack. Overall Virus sounds fatter and more "consistent", for the lack of better word.

I see. Gotta be some nunaces though, right? Actually, i'm quite stunned right now how much that sounds like Spire. :)

The certain crowd cried so long, and hard, and loudly when spire was making a name for itself they had no choice but cut corners where ever they could.

Um. I really don't know what you are talking about.

I intentionally gave an example which can be closely replicated.

I'm not trying to argue that Virus is the next level of sound quality but given that Reveal Sound most probably had it as the reference, I think that they got something tiny yet important not quite right.

Or maybe I'm just a freaking audiophile :?

I remember you were talking about certain specific settings where Spire 1.1.x supposedly sounds worse than 0.9x but I don't remember if you ever provided any example of that.

That was actually in the self modulation and they did their best to correct it with an update almost as soon as I complained about it. Others probably noticed way before I did. They obviously have a group of EDMrs' that they get recommendations and bug checking from after each update. I don't know what the audio quality is but it's good. My opinion from playing with it is it needs oversampling in a bad way. I say that because it needs less dirt and grit in the fm'ing and am'ing. I also can't stand all the stepping in envelope amounts and there are a lot of artifacts in the oscillators. All of this is a result of all the incessant crying about the CPU hit when it was still fairly new.

Can you do my a favour... I have a Virus TI and a lot of my pluck sounds are ruined due to what we've named Unison Strumming. When using unison and an envelope, the timing in the pluck of each unison is randomly off. A tightness control would be a solution. This may also be what is contributing to the 'fuller' sound to the Virus over Spire that you are mentioning... Perhaps Spire could look into adding this as a feature themselves, although I don't like it. I prefer my plucks to be super tight.

Here's is an example of it... https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzUqoU ... hpWkk/view

Could you try it on your Virus. On the Virus forum, only one other person joined in, they helped and discovered it to be the Unison. I'd originally thought it was the layers of the Hypersaw.

Simply use a Saw wave, add unison and a really tight envelope. The more unison, the worse it gets. If you can find away to tighten it up, you'd be a star.

A lot of people forget to turn down the "punch" control which gives an additional snap to the envelopes. If you turn it down to 0 then its a more fair comparison
