Sooo, I'm not using Cakewalk Pro 9.03 anymore (I have a legal copy but using Mixcraft now), but I need to open old *.bun files to restore some old songs to remaster.

I tried installing Cakewalk from the DVD, but no joy. It's opening the installer dialogue box, but nothing I click results in anything.

I even tracked down the install file on the DVD to change the compatibility, run as admin, etc. Nothing worked.

I was able to do this a few years back, there was a trick to it, but I don't remember.

Anyone?

When the dvd is on the drive, close out whatever pops up. In windows explorer, right-click on the drive that the dvd is in, and select explore. You should be able to see the installer there and run it. I have 8.5, X1, X2, X3, and Platinum installed on my Windows 7 machine, and I never had trouble installing any of them.

Hi thanks for the reply!

I can see the setup.exe file

Double-clicking, or right-clicking, Run as Administrator doesn't produce any install.

I'm on Windows 7 64, but a 32bit program should install nonetheless.

Issue with having the wrong DirectX? I am using DirectX11.

Thanks!

UPDATE: I was able to run Cakewalk from one of my other drives it was previously running from. So even though it's not the main drive (C:) it still runs!

Thanks!

Glad to hear it. I keep older versions on my computer so can work with friends who haven't upgraded
