Ok. But this "logic" of not updating/upgrading has it's limits. I mean, the latest cb7 patch was from januari 2014.

Xavier would know all this already, so you don't have to try to explain.wagtunes wrote:Yes, on Windows and YES, on long sessions. If I open and close shortly after, no problem. So yes, I'm having the same problem as you were having with the betas.Lotuzia wrote:Hmmm my main Daw is also Cubase 7 64b/Win 7 and it doesnt crash on exit ( I use eLicencer also) (and before -ie some betas versions-, tbh I had a few crashes on exit, but only during veryyyyyy long sessions -like daw opened for 2 days etc-). Are you on Windows ?
As a QA tester, I can say with 99% certainty that this is a memory leak in the software. I could explain what causes these but it would probably make your eyes roll around in your head so here's the Reader's Digest version and yes, Windows is as guilty a culprit as the software because of how they handle cleanup.

I'm sure he does. The question is how easy it is to find the problem. Without having the exact same setup, it may be impossible to duplicate. Been down that road more times than I care to say.Examigan wrote:Xavier would know all this already, so you don't have to try to explain.wagtunes wrote:Yes, on Windows and YES, on long sessions. No I meant I agreed with you, and he should get Cubase 9 to keep up with the many developments they've made since then.exmatproton wrote:Ok. But this "logic" of not updating/upgrading has it's limits. I mean, the latest cb7 patch was from januari 2014.

Here's the problem. Have you seen all the headaches that many older VSTs have been having with Cubase 9? Have you seen all the problems that new VSTs have been having with Cubase 9 because it's so new?Examigan wrote:No I meant I agreed with you, and he should get Cubase 9 to keep up with the many developments they've made since then.exmatproton wrote:Ok. I was very lucky when I got Cubase 7. It was pretty late in its life cycle before it went to 7.5. I had a pretty well beaten in version where most of the bugs were out of it. As a result, the only problems I've had with VSTs were 32 bit ones (which I have since gotten rid of), Vocaloid on exit and now Poly KB III on exit.
That's it.
Out of my 100 VSTs and countless FX, I have no other plugins that cause me any problems.
So where is the logic in upgrading to a new version of Cubase that is certain to have its share of early release bugs and possibly causing even more of my VSTs to malfunction while at the same time making no guarantee that it will fix my Vocaloid and Poly KB III problems?
Now, if there is a way to install Cubase 9 and still keep Cubase 7, I might consider it, even if I can't run them both at the same time. Then, once I determine that everything works in Cubase 9, I can abandon Cubase 7. But until I can verify that I can run both installations and not screw things up, I'm going to keep things as they are.
In short, I know what I have. I don't know what I'm going to end up with.

That would be cool if both Cubase 7 and 9 could be installed on the same machine. That type of thing does happen to work with Sonar, as I have had X3 and the Platinum version on the same PC with no issues. Another thing you could do is get Reaper to use as a secondary DAW. It's not very expensive at all.

I have Reaper. Two problems.Examigan wrote:That would be cool if both Cubase 7 and 9 could be installed on the same machine. 1) I don't know how to use it.
2) It's incompatible with Vocaloid which is how I do all my vocals.
It took me 3 years just to get the hang of using Cubase. At my age (59) trying to learn Reaper would just frustrate me to no end. I can't even figure out how to do simple things with it that, in Cubase, I do without thinking.

A little Reaper tip... When in doubt right click everywhere and anywhere to see what menus pop up. Want to change metronome settings right click... etc
Seems silly but I've discovered a lot by just using this method and of course the manual. Keep at it and Reaper will reward you with low CPU consumption, an insane amount of customizations and actions/ scripts, an almost bulletproof bit bridge for those old gems (SQ8L), custom themes, very active development and updates and a very friendly forum for the most part.
Cheers

That's not what i am talking about. I am talking about a DAW that isn't supported anymore and your assuming/hoping/asking for plugins to keep on working, because you have these 100+ plugins that do work a.t.m. I am afraid this won't hold up. Maybe for now, but there comes a point where you have to upgrade, because plugin x isn't working with daw y.wagtunes wrote: ...So where is the logic in upgrading to a new version of Cubase that is certain to have its share of early release bugs and possibly causing even more of my VSTs to malfunction while at the same time making no guarantee that it will fix my Vocaloid and Poly KB III problems?

And i get you. If something works like you want it to, why change that? I did the same in the past.

Recently i moved to another desktop PC and just installed some PolyKB II banks like Analog Bag 1 & 2 and the Julian Ray banks using PoylKB III v3.0.2 (eLicenser version) on Windows 10 64-bit.
So far those imported pratches seem to work properly. Like expected for those the 3rd Osc is deactivated, the filter balance is set to Filter 1 and the LPF mode is used.
While i still got PolyKB II.5 installed i wanted to focus on PolyKB III now which is why i imported those patches with that one.

Believe me, I know that I'm going to have to upgrade some day. I also know that someday the hard drive of this PC is going to go or the OS will fall apart. I dread that even more when I have to reinstall every single VST I own, including Komplete which took like 4 hours. Trust me, I know what nightmares lie ahead. I'm simply putting them off for as long as I can.exmatproton wrote:That's not what i am talking about. No more than I read Cubase's gazillion page manual. It isn't how I work through things. I don't have time to sit down and read manuals nor do I have the patience for it. I bit the bullet on Cubase and worked through learning it. Took me a long time. I'm not going through that again with another DAW.Examigan wrote:Did you read this?wagtunes wrote:I have Reaper.
