Yep, these were quality soundsets, well worth the money...and often sold discounted. I would not want to spend $50 on a soundset only to find 10 variations of the same sound (ala factory "sound dancer" "epic straight". And at the other end of the spectrum I don't like soundsets full of multiple layer melodies.

+1 for Rob Lee :tu:
Hi Rob and db3 if you can wait until after the new year I could maybe buy this synth and do a little free batch, Iv'e listened to it via Sami's YouTube and he presents it really well so I could do a little free bank and a cheap commercial one. So busy with another synth right now but I like this one. I'm in to lots of Ambient lately so could do some of those too.

Thanks Rob for pointing me to this synth

Merry Christmas

Rob

Nice one Rob, we'll hold you to that :D

the load of sounds is very slow. I have a fast ssd which can transfer over 280 MB/sec. i see in program data all samples in demo are around 280 mb. but 1 sound often need more than 5 sec load time and load only few MB. sound testing make no fun. I have a 4*2.8 GHZ CPU without AVX. much faster CPU is not available. or does a AVX cpu speedup more Rapid synth ?

Cool! Can't wait for Rob to serve us some awesome Rapid bread and butter!

Which presets or sounds are you loading in that take 5 seconds? I want to try that myself and see what happens. I don't have an SSD, but still, I don't remember it being that slow.

I have the same, on a ssd. Some patches (i did myself) which contains multiple layers, or 3 osc's in 1 layer, can take 1 to 5 seconds to load...

I wouldn't say a 280 MB/s SSD is a fast SSD, rather avarage, and a 4*2.8GHz CPU doesn't really tell what generation of CPU you have, or even if it's an i7 or not.

I have my factory bank file saved to an HDD, a WD Black Caviar, and not even I get 5 sec or longer loading time. I would say about 3-4 seconds at most.

Edit:

I have the plugin saved to a Samsung 850 EVO though (but not the bank file as explained above), with a theoretical sequental read speed of 540 MB/s. An i7-4930K (6*3.4GHz) and 64GB of DDR3 RAM.

i measure it now carefully by doing a sequence that play 1/16 notes and i use a stopwatch and measure the time when i load a new sound and stop end when the sound is play. it happen sometimes that sound can only hear 1 sec later after load bar display has end. here are times. i measure 3 times, differ around 0.1 -0.2 sec load time is same. i test not all in demo, only this for now

energy lead 03 4,9 sec
ambient pad 2 5,7 sec
caribic sunset 13,9 sec

Edit: Now the rapid synth 1.1. load time is really good. most is load under a second

energy lead below 1 sec
ambient pad 1.2 sec
caribic sunset 4.2 sec

You need 8x SSD in raid0 to do anything these days. :hihi:

in windows taskmanager can see, how many mb/sec data is transfer from SSD. when i load caribic sunset show 1,5 MB/sec upto 6.7 MB/sec. so can see only very few data is transfer from SSD. i only have tell that i use a fast ssd so nobody can say access time due to harddrive is too slow. when load a sound a second time then all is in filecache. i have 12 GB RAM in my system and i use 64 bit rapid synth. but load time of sunset is not much faster. so seem CPU. so my question is, if it get much faster with faster cpu that supoort AVX

The reason why presets like "Caribic Sunset" take more time to load than others do, is that they have a lot of multismaples and wavetables included. These are the biggest kind of presets wich have all layers in use. In fact there are 16 oscs running in "Caribic Sunset" and each one have to load a different multisample or wavetable.
This kind of presets are regulary big sequences, polyphon melodies or complete little tracks so they need all the oscs and layers. That's a big reason why I love RAPID! And think about it. How long do a track load, when you load one in your DAW? Maybe a half Minute? Ah and did You notice how fast you can instanciate a RAPID? I think this is really fast for a big synth. ;-)

In Cubase 9.01 it's around 2.3 minutes so.... while in Cubase 8.5 works like a charm.

It's a little bit slower for me to load than most, but it's not that bad. 1 to 2 seconds at the most is the norm for me.
