I am looking for a sampler. Kontakt 5 is out of my range and I am using Groove Agent SE.
GAse is nice but I'd like to check something else, if any.

One that allows me to chop, pitch and play with a filter and amp envelope.

Any stuff around?

Tal Sampler?

TAL Sampler is fantastic, but it does not offer the chop / slicing that the OP has requested.

Otherwise, yeah, TAL.... but for slicing, hmmm. Wait, does kontakt even do slicing, now that I think on it? I know it has timestretch, but I don't remember there being slicing on the inside...

Anyway, frankly for OP's needs the best I can think of is Ableton's Simpler, the 9.5 update to it was amazing (slicing, timestretching, awesome glide functionality) but that's not going to help you in Cubase :(

TAL-Sampler slices

The free TX16wx sampler is a real sampler (it can sample if your DAW will pass audio to it), and has a ton of features, including slicing: http://www.tx16wx.com/features/

Personally I love Renoise Redux for chopping/slicing and every other general sampler stuff. I also have Kontakt, but use it only for playing sample libraries.

Just today I've been comparing slicing in TAL Sampler (which is a very nice sampler) with Redux, but found Redux easier and faster to use, while also being more powerful. Integrated wave editor helps a lot and it has a bunch of effects and modulation possibilities. It also have integrated phrase sequencer, just don't be scared of the tracker interface. You don't have to use this at all, since you can of course sequence directly from your DAW, but if you take the time to learn this feature, it can be very powerful for mangling samples and making cool stutter/reverse/pitch/etc. effects. Or you can simply use it to sequence loops (aka phrases) directly in sampler and trigger them from your keyboard/DAW.

AIR Structure is $20 in Audiodeluxe. I haven't used it that much, but at only 5% the price of kontakt...

It also plays old kontakt libraries.

It's the holidays deal, so it could end anytime now.

of course, it does. it's even pretty comprehensive...
