Gobbler won't run in the background once installed, registered and activated over here.aMUSEd wrote:OK even worse, is there now no way to just install using iLok (which I have already) and do without this Gobbler thing which looks like it could use additional cpu now too? Otherwise I will continue to avoid Modular (which there's no point in getting anyway till it has sane preset management) and may also sell my current Softube plugins if they force me to use this when I next update them.phoenixnick wrote: Gobbler App.....A couple of things we discovered using it once.....after uninstalling, some stuff was left behind on the computer and a "service" could still be detected operating. We had to manually remove all of this. Also, if you decide to UNLINK your iLok Account check on your user section on iLok'a website, although we unlinked our iLok details at Gobbler, the iLok account was showing that we were still giving permission for Gobbler to haver access. Please revoke this at iLok to protect yourself....

I don' thinkt that the Gobler thing is reversable. Slate, Kush, Softube, Eventide, Nugen Audio, Exponential Audio as well as Apple (Logic Pro X) are already using Gobbler.aMUSEd wrote:OK even worse, is there now no way to just install using iLok (which I have already) and do without this Gobbler thing which looks like it could use additional cpu now too? I don't like Gobbler also, but missing Modular would be much more painful.

I have plugins from Slate and Exponential and never had to install this - I understand that it is for subscriptions but I don't do those - why should I have to install something else on top of the already just about tolerable iLok? It does the copy protection job already.

Gobbler isn't the copy protection system per se, but the payment system. Purely there to make the bridge between iLok, the dev and your payment solution (creditcard/paypal..).aMUSEd wrote:I have plugins from Slate and Exponential and never had to install this - I understand that it is for subscriptions but I don't do those - why should I have to install something else on top of the already just about tolerable iLok? The latest iteration lets you manage the plugins (update, install) as well. Which is handy.

I just started demoing this yesterday, and I'm very impressed.
Pros:
1. Sounds amazing - very different to anything I own - incredibly aggressive
2. Lots of fun modules to start
3. I like that this is expandable and more and more modules will be made available - I just hope they open it up and we start to see modules indie VST developers (who wouldn't want some Audio Damage modules, or a version of Cytomic's The Drop in there?)
Cons:
1. No drag and drop and auto-arrange to rearrange modules (the "Move" then click the module, then click an empty space approach sucks IMO)
2. No preset browser
3. Incredibly high per-instance CPU usage
4. Could easily become a cash suck as more modules become available
5. Need to get better at programming modular synths (took a laughable amount of brain power just to make a basic 3 osc subtractive synth with glide, a mixer, a filter, and 2 ADSRs)
I hope 1 and 2 on my cons list is getting treated as a high priority since these are the two most annoying aspects of the plugin, and probably relatively easy to fix.

I find the beat machine in modular rather lacking compared to the rest of it which is great. Heartbeat inside modular is amazing. Let down by the lack of features like beng able to change patterns on the fly, banks, save as, load midi etc. There is endless possibilites though there is many dedicated drum modules for real modulars that could be used

Guys I'm sorry but I'm not going through 73 pages to find what I'm looking for.
Does anyone here use Softube Modular with Ableton? If so, have you found a way to load 3rd party presets? I have a customer who can't load either the vst3preset or fxp files.
This whole "no internal browser" shit is starting to piss me off and I'm seriously considering just taking the library off the market because it's more trouble than it's worth.

Maybe this helps: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... n#p6570208
BTW, you can do a thread search, there's a text box in the upper right of the thread, and i simply filled in "Ableton" as a search term, and it came up with lots of results. Maybe you'll find something there, if the thing i linked to doesn't help.

Thanks, but no answer to the problem. I think I'm just going to take this thing off the market until Softube makes an internal browser. It's just not worth all the aggravation.chk071 wrote:Maybe this helps: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... n#p6570208

I've used it in Live, but I don't do 3rd party presets or even save my own presets. I always like starting from scratch and generating the sound patches on my own.

If I send you a patch, can you see if you can load it?ImNotDedYet wrote:I've used it in Live, but I don't do 3rd party presets or even save my own presets. I always like starting from scratch and generating the sound patches on my own.

it works, but includes the Korgasmatron which i don't have.
It's possible to save an FXP instead of the full bank by the way.
but yeah, the 'default' sound loads.
