Seem some developers cooking something new up and some other new interesting tools coming up.
These are the things i like iOS for. I even don´t know exact what it all will can do but these little beautiful looking GUI´s and interesting ways to create music is what iOS is made for.

Alexandernaut of Fugue fame is reportedly hard at work on a new app.

Since i mainly use my iPhone for iOS i agree. But the market for music apps and the GUI might be not worth the income for most developers.raintalk wrote:What's bugging me is that half the music apps don't work on an iPhone. iPad only. I don't get it.
"IOS" shouldn't mean just iPad
Still happy to have most of my favourite apps as iPhone version. And with 3D touch it´s even more expressive to play (but for sure no big chords).

IOS bigest problem is the fact that 'MOST' of the developers are simply crappy, if their apps have issues, they don't care, they have little interest in doing things the correct way if they have already come up with some random esoteric way of doing it instead, and unfortunately most of them are up their own ying yang so far, that if you even mention that it is done correctly in such and such desktop app or plugin or hardware, the standard answer of "But it is IOS" comes not only from the developers but also the fanboy nonsense speaking a-hole users that think they are experts, but who can't actually work out how to use an arpegiator app unless it just says off/on and nothing else. (Sorry but it is IOS is a pisstake, IOS is very very powerful, not the toy you think it is)
On top of that the never ending need for things that only cost 99c means no serious developers will ever get involved and once a semi quality app actually comes along it gets no updates because the developer needs to constantly release these 99c apps because nobody uses them for more than a few weeks.
Look at Modstep for an example, could be great, massive fail that has terrible timing, utterly crap support, and is about as stable as Charles Manson.
Then look at Korg Gadget, just a toy for IOS right ? Fully load it with all IAPs and it will cost you more than any DAW in history hahaha
IOS has a massive future in music making, but that one developer who will change everything hasn't stepped up yet, maybe in 2017, lets see.

I would agree and disagree!bungle wrote:IOS bigest problem is the fact that 'MOST' of the developers are simply crappy, if their apps have issues, they don't care, they have little interest in doing things the correct way if they have already come up with some random esoteric way of doing it instead, and unfortunately most of them are up their own ying yang so far, that if you even mention that it is done correctly in such and such desktop app or plugin or hardware, the standard answer of "But it is IOS" comes not only from the developers but also the fanboy nonsense speaking a-hole users that think they are experts, but who can't actually work out how to use an arpegiator app unless it just says off/on and nothing else. The same stubborn is to be found in many desktop tools.
Moog is for me the best leader here still.
Korg does nice tools but i agree that it can sum up and their midi and patch management is terrible!
Of course i would like to have a Model 15 and Animoog VST/AU etc. but that will not happen.
No one is forced to use either.
If you are not happy with something, don't use it.

3D touch is very nice! but I don't find a lot of music apps using it. AFAIK Garage Band uses the accelerometer to simulate what 3D can do. Aftertouch is the only app I've found so far, it's great but I have to use Midiflow to remap the pads. Maybe after 3D comes to iPad there will be more apps.Cinebient wrote:And with 3D touch it´s even more expressive to play (but for sure no big chords).

Hasn't that supposed to be released for like 3 years now, and didn't they cancel that beta ?

No and no.bungle wrote:Hasn't that supposed to be released for like 3 years now, and didn't they cancel that beta ?
They've been testing specifically with a small group of beta testers after gathering info on user requests over a long period.
They, unlike most pc/mac full fledged software companies, are not concerned with NAMM and pushing releases without thorough testing and not listening to user base. Beatmaker 2 was $20 and they have released many updates.
Not $600 or $400
They are doing their own thing which works well for a lot of people.

People who want to invest the money in a developer they can trust, some people are not the "buy every app, oh how exciting" types
