Which free softsynth could use some preset love? Opinions?

Hi,

I would like to ask the opinions of my fellow KVR members on which free software synthesizer really could use an extra (free) soundbank. Synth1 for instance is a nice free synth, but there ar dozens of banks for that one already.

Any opinions here?

The qyooo.

I'm not a preset user (and hardly a free soft synth user), but, i'm sure some people would love to have more sounds for Dune CM/BE. Technically not freeware, but, as cheap as a digital copy of Computer Music mag, or a registration on Studiodrive.de for Dune BE. Many of the other free synths tend to be quite limited in their feature set, for example, i don't see much point in offering sounds for Charlatan, or, at least not to much, for Tyrell N6.

Helm.

This is a really fun and innovative synth with bugger-all presets but potential for some really beautiful pads and keys. Don't get put-off because it's in perpetual 'beta' - it hasn't changed in yonks.

Makes me wonder what happens if you load regular Dune patches in Dune BE. Are the effects simply turned off or is it simply impossible to load them?

Anyway, many free synths seem to be rather simple, so patchers probably don't see why they would even spend time on making free presets, let alone commercial ones :hihi:

As far as i know, it's able to load them, but, the fx's are missing, if fx's were used, obviously, and, in Dune CM, modulations from page 2 of the mod matrix are missing, if those have been used. The patches are compatible though. Also between Dune BE and CM.

Not everyone is blessed with your sound design skills (or deep pockets).Happily there are sound designers who disagree with Charlatan presets being pointless, as there are plenty available. I would like to see presets for any of the K.Brown synths.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I downloaded a few already to check out.

In line with the Dune CM/BE versions, the CM versions of Aalto, Zebra and Bazille seem nice to check out as well.

Well, the first one has become a set for The Qyooo :)
