The MySteinberg part will get you a download link, about 10.5G for CP9, when license is on key and then also registered product - or what they call it.

I find it a little bit confusing this twopart operation, why the eLicenser doesn't do both if a Steinberg product.

In fact, I think register the serial thingy can be done first too - but unable to open Cubase until license key is in place.

And think they should do what most software companies do - have a smart installer that allow you do download minimum of data according to options you select. I was glad upgrade 8.5-9 was only 2G - so my monthly 20G was not halfed by download like december 2015, I just about could empty email the rest of the month. ;)

Yep. It's one of my long time annoyances with Steiny, the huge Cubase demo downloads.

It's really not that difficult to have a download for nothing else but the raw application installer, which wiuld likely be 100-120 mb max, and a seperate optional link for the content and/or instrument installers.

Not exactly rocket science.

Closer to miss than hit, but not entirely one or the other. Lower zone is utterly useless for me, the sampler track badly implemented, mixer history a missed opportunity, the EQ nice enough but unessential. On the other hand, it is stable and VST sentinel probably helps there, it looks a little cleaner and the window edge pop ups have gone. 8.6 is fair enough really - an improvement, but a very marginal one.

DO NOT UPDATE to CUBASE 9 Pro...
Wait 4 further updates

They posted this video walking through some of the bugs they have found.

Are they the butthead and beavis of audio? :-)

Have you or anyone you know and trust been able to replicate any of these bugs or is it just their machine?

At least two of their 'bugs' failed to be buggy in their presentation, call me skeptical, that it is universal issues. The original version was indeed a bit buggy, but there was an update available on the same day of release that fixed quite a few issues.

Irrelevant. They said DO NOT UPDATE TO CUBASE 9, so noone should do. People who shout loud are always right.

Can anyone prove that they are NOT there?

I have no way of checking......no demo

I am on mac and they say it is on PC....However they couldn't even reproduce at least two of them in their own video 'showing' them.

Their own video? That explains everything :hihi:

They make a living using Cubase to produce, mix, and master songs. They are simply recommending waiting until the next update comes out to upgrade. They are diehard Cubase fans.

Not surprising. Their history has been as such since forever. They aren't alone, but it's still really frustrating to have features you want and know for a fact that you have to wait for a maintenance update.

Then they'll do 9.5, want money, and have the whole thing start again.....same as it ever was.

Good on em for making a video... but personally from this perspective (and many other people's too)Cubase 9.01 is the most stable cubase I've ever run on my computer BY FAR. and I've been running every version since before SX

That to me is worth the upgrade alone as working with 8.5 really started to give me neverending tears, and I started looking to other DAWs for the first time ever. Not anymore.

Why can't you just change the DAW? There are plenty of them both for PC and Mac. Good luck ;)
