Good questions. I'll see how FLS integrates with my existing DAWs (including S1) as ReWire Slave/Master and as VST/VSTi

Update:
The ReWire didn't work fine with S1, but FLS multi Vsti is great and very easy to setup in S1

I suppose the same can be achieved in other hosts, but I didn't try. Anyway, I couldn't find a way to copy events from FLS into S1.

I'm tempted to drop Cubase pro 9 and go to Ableton. Watching youtube videos of people manipulating samples and automation in ways you just can't do easily on Cubase is making me very envious.

I've never tried Ableton myself though, anyone done this move and know how difficult the switch would be seeing that I've used Cubase since the Atari ST ?

That's easy to achieve in any DAW, you just make the overall curve/riser w/ automation and just use any LFO to handle the triangle/saw peaks (no need whatsoever to use automation for regular variations like that).

From past experiences I have learnt that: "Don't drop what's you know the best"! Really! So, IMO, you might add another host, but don't drop Cubase. Whatever the new DAW would serve you, you might find yourself return to the most DAW you know because you think of "Music" more than technical features.

Yep on keep the old DAW for a while at least. I'm still using Reaper after buying FL a couple of weeks ago. Reaper is much easier that FL for audio editing (so far anyway) but having to finish the midi for my current project in Reaper just reminds me how utterly awful Reaper usability is outside of audio editing and why I bought FL.

Like I said before,I switched to REAPER after being a Cakewalk/Sonar user for many years and I really enjoy the change...

I still have Sonar installed,but the more I dig into REAPER,the more I enjoy using it,for so many reasons...

I have no criticism of the MIDI handling in REAPER 5...

In fact,many tasks are more expedient than in Sonar...

But I did set up a few shortcuts and customize a few things to get REAPER working the way I want it to..

My overall impression after using REAPER for a few months,is that it is extremely well coded software...

It's a really big step to change DAWs and I had been using a Cakewalk DAW since the Pro Audio 9 days !

But changing to REAPER is a positive step and now I am "reaping" the fruits of my labour

So I couldn't resist the Samplitude Pro-X3 Suite offer for $199 and I'm slowly, and I mean SLOWLY, learning the program.
I can't even figure out where the iZotope Restoration and Repair Suite lives nor can I figure out where the 80GB of extra content installed to..... Nothing in the manual. I figured out where iZotope Nectar is and registered it.
I've got Samp configured and can do the basics but it has one heck of a steep learning curve compared to say Studio One.

One thing I'm learning is that I'm spending a lot of time searching for answers to basic questions and not finding a lot of help either in the manual or Google. It's kind of like buying an oddball car like some Alfa Romeo (sorry you guys in Italy

) compared to a Toyota. Have a problem with the Toyota, search and you'll find many with the same problem and solutions. Not so much with the Alfa. You are kind of on your own.

Example: Where is the Performance Meter / CPU / Disk usage?
I can't find it.
I'm sure it exists, but where?

On the positive side, I can load up VSTi and play to my heart's content at like 5ms RTL with no clicks, pops or problems. I also like the old school look of the console. Real nice and the free Birdline skins make for some very interesting themes.

So I'm plugging away at the Kraznet Youtube channel and experimenting.
It's not for the faint of heart but I can see how amazingly powerful, in the right hands, the program can be.
At the moment, those hands are not mine though lol !

Well, that doesn't sound very good. A program, especially when it's as complex as a DAW, should make it easy for the user, not difficult.

Not on my system it isn't.
Nothing showing there.

That's what's weird.

Do I need to display a specific set of controls (Object, meters, time display etc) to see it? Or should it display when any tab is selected?

Edit:: Thank you incubus your clue helped me fix it !
Looks like something was wrong with the skin (Cameo) I was using where the extra display box at the bottom of the screen would end up under the task bar for some odd reason. I switched to a different theme and then back to the default and there it is: DSP and Disk and on the right ASIO information...

I think what also confused me is that it is not displayed when idle. So if I load a project, I don't see anything in the lower bar until I either start recording or hit play.

Anyway, your clue helped me out so I thank you!

It's tough and I've been around since the 1970's and to be honest never thought I would see something as difficult as Emagic Logic 5.x for the PC.... To the present, and I've tried pretty much every DAW on the planet for the PC, Logic PC is the only one that I truly could not get a squeak out of without studying the manual... It was that complex at the time.

Samplitude isn't that bad, no where near, but it's a steep learning curve at least for me.
I think the problem is the doc goes in depth in actually performing tasks but does little to acquaint a new user to the program. It all seems very disjointed especially when iZotope is included. I just don't see it in the menus. Looking at Windows "Programs and Features" it's there, but I have no idea where...

One complication might be that I do have iZotope Ozone 7 on my system so maybe some of this Magix iZotope plugin stuff overlaps?
I don't know.

I've been at this for years and honestly this is the first time in a long time that I am stumped.

Anyway, the good news is, it all (except for the iZotope mentioned) seems to work fine and I'm liking it.
