Just to add a voice...Cubase 9 is the most stable version of Cubase I have run in a long time. I have had one crash due to a plugin, but only after I continued to try to force it to work did it actually crash.

My workflow has not uncovered any bugs at all. There is some lag here and there but I think it to be better than 8.5.

There may be some code that is not fully optimized and that will happen over the next 1 or 2 subreleases (most past versions had at least a .10, .20, and .30 release before stepping up to the next level).

Always a tug of war.........

"it's great here"

"it sucks here"

"what are your buffer settings"

Yeah, but what I think that a lot of people are saying is just with respect to previous versions of Cubase. I also think that it's really stable compared to past editions, especially 5.x which caused me to completely give up on Cubase for a number of years.

^^ This!
and actually I think this thread has been very positive, Seems like a lot of people don't really gel with the lower pane, but other than those guys that made the video about bugs I've heard nearly nothing but good things about its performance. Despite some plugin issues early on.
Actually for an X.01 Release I think its remarkable.
And when is a thread about a new DAW not going to throw up a few people with some teething issues.

Remember when the last Logic version came out ? :)

ha I just went through the last 3 pages of this thread to check and the nearly the only person complaining is mr incubus... Moving on.

Well, at least you said Mr.

"Nearly" doesn't mean just me, and if you need to call me out by name, then that's kinda sad ... especially when I'm not really complaining about anything other than known facts and no demo.

Post

Really? you took offence to that?
Sorry I just thought it was weird that you made a point making out like everyone had completely different experiences of the performance of Cubase 9.
But after going back through plenty of this thread pretty much every agrees that it is the most stable version ever....

I didn't say it wasn't. And again, I want to try it, when it comes out.

As for "taking offense" think about it, you singled me out when I have no opinion about it one way or the other. If you weren't trying to single me out, then you should simply say something that doesn't mention me by name.

Anyways, good luck to everyone, time to bow out.

Seemed like an opinion from this post.

Sorry my bad, I really don't understand the etiquette around here sometimes.

CUBASE 9 DOESN'T SUPPORT 32bit VST's anymore???
HAHA!!! YES IT DOES!!! :D - just like 8.5, with a little trick!

In the Cubase-program-folder you find the folder "components".
The TRICK is to just copy (and replace) the following 2 files from Cubase 8.5-components-folder to the one in Cubase 9:

"VstBridgeApp.exe"
"VstPlugManager.dll"

(please don't forget to backup the C9 components folder first)

With this little trick I'm using my Cubase 9 just the way I used 8 all the time, all the 32bit-PlugIns are now present in Cubase 9!
I don't know how it works with mac, I guess there should be a similar way to get it working there :-)

In Mac OS, the APP is a folder (just hidden). Clicking with the mouse right button allows users to open the folder, and reveal its content. Inside that folder you can find several other folders and files. Probably, you have those files inside the Cubase 8.5, and you can then copy them to the same folder inside Cubase 9.

Just get rid of 32-bit plugins. Problem solved. :) Well, each to his like. I always thought that bridging sucks, and there's always something which doesn't work, the GUI is glitchy and so on. Also devs shouldn't be encouraged to go on developing 32-bit only. It's 2017, everyone has a 64-bit system, most are running a 64-bit DAW... wtf really. Even my phone will be 64-bit soon.

See, that sounds good. But it is blacklisting my 64 bit stuff as well. Like pretty much every Waves thing I own.

And I am still loading stuff on my new computer, so I haven't tried half of my plugins yet. What sucks even more is that they don't give me the option of downloading 8 or 8.5 anymore. Fortunately, I found the 8 installer on my old computer drive. :tu:

Well, but what if we have some projects created with 32-bit plug-ins that don't exist anymore? Being able to open them, if needed, is something comforting.

You must be doing something wromng. I just checked, and I am still able to download the full installer for Cubase 8.5 (besides Cubase 9).

EDIT: But that's probably because I have another eLicenser with Cubase 8.5, though.
