+12dB for the former, -12dB for the latter.
You need to limit that rez, bro.

+1 for the Tinnitus support :)

Also my headphones are so cool, they are not supported yet (beyerdynamic dt 1770 pro) :)

heres what I find confusing. the 100% and 200% thing.

so if the correction filter is 100% , that is theoretically the ideal , yes? meaning that 200% goes past that and is therefore , a deviation from the ideal? very confusing tbh

It's there because headphone tolerances are not always 100%. Two identical models purchased at different times can sound different. The parameter lets you "fine tune" it for your own preference.

Ultimately this is a subjective tool. You need to set it to your own preference, not take it as absolute science.

For instance, to my ears, my AKG K701 headphones (the original Austrian version) sound best when set to 108%.

I have K702s (same as 701s just with a removable cable, I think?) and am wondering about this thing. The midrange detail is incredible, but the 702s were extremely crispy for the first few months. Though they seem to have settled in over time and I dig them a lot, they are still noticeably bright and I suspect a little bass shy.

What kind of "correction" curve does Morphit impose on the 701s?

Post

K702 is not at all the same as K701. Very quite different sounding headphones. The K702 model tried to fix the lack of bass in K701. The AKG headphones are also notorious for their extremely long settling in period. Some sources say that they need more than 100 hours.

Just download the demo and see for yourself how Morphit works.

Quite a few people seem to be overthinking this whole thing. Personally I think it's fairly simple. Use the compensation, mix a few songs, check the translation over a number of systems. Then do the same thing without any compensation, check again and see what worked better. :)

No. That's the reason I like headphones with treble boost. :D

Hi djeroen, requesting profiles for:
- Audio-Technica ATH-M20x
- Tascam TH-02

Post

Please add Sony MDR7510 , it's a better model than MDR7506 and many people use it. Thanks.

Tryed it out, it didn't work as well as EQ by ear, but my headphones shouldn't have matched the measured responses because I have modified them. It's a nice plugin, my only suggestion is to make the EQ graph have markers of 1dB instead of 10dB.

A system-wide standalone desktop app version would be nice :)

And also I request a Samson SR850 profile.

My 2c as a recent convert. :)

1. Selected my battered old headphones from the list.
2. Selected some random presets from the SIMULATE menu while listening to a recording I've enjoyed since the '80s.

What I immediately noticed was the controlled power in the bottom end that they must have heard in the studio, when they were making the original recording. It was detailed and powerful, not overpowering or dull. The overall recording now sounded professionally balanced.

I don't know if the SIMULATE function exactly matches one set of headphones with another. What I care about is the sound for what it is. This particular test sounded great imho. My Credit Card jumped out of its wallet of its own accord. :)

I was skeptical about the product but thought I'd give it a go. I think I'll be getting a lot of use out of this one. :tu:
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Excellent product, could you add this profile as well?

On the product page it says it "modifies the audio for your headphone to sound like a neutral, 'studio reference' headphone". But what is the point of this if I already use studio reference headphones, which is what I assume the vast majority of music producers will be using anyway?
"Neutral" is the key word here - headphones are rarely flat-response :) My HD650s certainly aren't. So it's referring to a hypothetical, idealised 'neutral headphone'.
