Because I use the best one, which is the best one because I use it, and because the other one sucks, which sucks because I say it does, because its not as good as the best one, which is the one I use, so Im great. Set Theory claim:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate.
Red is Red and anything that is Red is an object, a class in itself or a real thing if you prefer"

Thank you for clarifying that. I kind of suspected that.whyterabbyt wrote:Because I use the best one, which is the best one because I use it, and because the other one sucks, which sucks because I say it does, because its not as good as the best one, which is the one I use, so Im great. Why don't we just create a Godzilla Mothra and Rodan vs Ghidorah, the three headed monster thread?chk071 wrote:Then you need to create a The Legend & RePro-1 vs. Analog modelled synth XY thread.

They're both vintage analogue synthesizer emulations.wagtunes wrote:You know, I'm looking at the title of this thread again and I'm saying to myself "Why are we comparing two synths that have almost nothing in common?"
This is indeed an odd thread.
They're both based on monophonic synthesizers.
They represent current cutting edge analogue modelling technology.
Why wouldn't they be compared?

Regarding the polyphony "debate" - quite frankly, I'm shocked at the amount of KVR'ers here who are actually using chords... !!
I thought it was likely to be 90% one-finger doodlers, arpeggiators, beat-makers and mouse-note-entry types here in the main...

Wow, this thread is still going strong
And the results have flipped, some time ago Legend was ahead, now Repro 1 has a big lead...

Normally, I would get into a long discussion about those 3 points but in keeping with my New Year's resolution, I'm just gonna give you the touchdown and move on.egbert101 wrote:They're both vintage analogue synthesizer emulations.wagtunes wrote:You know, I'm looking at the title of this thread again and I'm saying to myself "Why are we comparing two synths that have almost nothing in common?"

Given the discussion, I think this is relevant. Notice what's listed and what's not listed.
Now, I'm not saying I agree with this list. In fact, there are some on it that I find highly questionable. But that's just my opinion. Still, as meaningless as these biased lists are, I found this interesting.

Well, back in the days, they were compared, for sure:egbert101 wrote: They're both vintage analogue synthesizer emulations.

According to VSE, the Pro-1 was in production from 1981 to 1984, and 10.000 were produced.
The Minimoog was in production from 1970 to 1982, and, according to Synthmuseum, 12.000 were produced.
It's strange that 10.000 Pro-1 were produced in only four years, while the Mini had only 12.000 units produced during a lifespan of 12 years. But I would say that people have spoken, and the Mini wins.

Haha, for some reason I was thinking Minimoogs were sold in the hundred thousands. Probably confusing Minimoogs with the DX7.fmr wrote: Well, back in the days, they were compared, for sure:

It would be kinda odd, if emulations of those synths have outsold those synths. Does that make the emulations even more important? Hehe.

I can understand why Massive and Sylenth1 are there, because of their influence and recognizable sound, even if their features and quality don't match the others. However the title 'Blow Most Hardware Synths' seems to be more hyperbole, so as to get people to click the link, so I wouldn't take it too seriously.wagtunes wrote:Given the discussion, I think this is relevant.
