check out the AirBar
http://www.air.bar/
you can pinch so I assume it recognizes the touch
of two fingers.

Would be great if they made tn AirBAr 36" long for 40" TV/monitors
and 38" for 43" TV/monitors.

Hum, if that really works, that's pretty awesome.
I wonder how it detects the area of touches though. And i also wonder how precise it is (i have a feeling, not too much). Really interesting find, thanks for the heads up.
Just read a bit more about it, looks like it's at least capable for most touch uses, a bit less precise than a "native" touchscreen, but, obviously, precise enough for most uses. Great, really nice device.

At work we have these awfully big screens (must be something like 4 or 5, maybe even 6 feet) fitted with a frame around it that does exactly that! Convert it into touch screen, simply by plugging in with USB into your laptop. We use them all the time for Scrum daily standups & Kanban boards to move cards with tasks from ToDo --> Busy --> Done, just by swiping on the screen. Will have to loop up the make & model if you really want to know further specifics...
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

The frame likely contains a touch sensitive glass. If this it is rather expensive for large screens. Yes, please post more details.BertKoor wrote:At work we have these awfully big screens (must be something like 4 or 5, maybe even 6 feet) fitted with a frame around it that does exactly that! Nope, there is (plastic) glass but the sensor is in the frame, not the glass. By getting your finger too close (and not touching) it already registers a click/touch. Really annoying when giving a presentation, just by pointing to a detail it might go to the next slide.Kalamata Kid wrote:The frame likely contains a touch sensitive glass.
Will try to remember...Kalamata Kid wrote:Yes, please post more details.

So it seems that it is an overlay but in your case somehow it can sense your finger before contact.BertKoor wrote:I see results though! But kids these days... why are you searching for videos only?Kalamata Kid wrote:Thanks for the link. Could not find more info.

Not a good ideas as you pointed out unless it can sense velocity. I was hoping the video would show that problem. In any case too expensive for my taste.
I am looking for a in-expensive alternative like the AirBar that would work on a large screen, even if it is single touch.

Maybe in your case it's cheaper to get a simple 40" touch screen monitor
Pick any: http://www.touchwindow.com/c/40inchLCDT ... itors.html
(list includes touch overlays of all sizes as well)
You have four requirements:
* 4K resolution
* 40 inch
* touch screen
* tiny budget
You can only get two or three out of these, so it will be a compromise
