Here's what still kind of puzzles me.

Technology has come a very long way since the original Alchemy came out. Certainly there has to be some bright and savvy businessman out there who can find an engineering team smart enough to reverse engineer the original synth and come out with something just like it if not better.

And before anybody says we already have Alchemy 1 for Windows, that's only for the people who were fortunate enough to have gotten into music making when it was still available for PC. Right now, you can't buy it.

So why hasn't somebody been insightful enough to look at the Windows market that has been abandoned and come up with something that does what Alchemy does and even surpasses it? I can't believe that the market isn't there for a synth that had a huge following.

Wusik already got it sussed with the WusikStation, but decided to rather develop new synths for the sake of developing...

Wusik already got it sussed with the WusikStation, but decided to rather develop new synths for the sake of developing...

Wusikstation is pretty cool, I used to use it all the time. You can also check out Linplug's CrX4.

Still really loving Alchemy 1.5 for Windows here. Such an excellent, versatile synth!

But...... I'm getting a new laptop soon and I'm getting nervous about loading it on the new machine. I have the installer and all backup files. And I have the 3 page instructions on how to do the offline installation. But I would hate to have something screw up and permanently lose Alchemy!

Anyone else have good luck installing legacy Alchemy Windows on a new machine?

I have it on a USB stick .. I did some uninstalls and reinstalls on Windows7 before the Camel sight went black for good just to make sure it was all a go ... Nice of the Camel folks to do that ... Hope I never lose or mess up that USB stick .. I do have it on my hardrive too but man ... It's kinda scary ....

Yes I had Alchemy on my old PC, but then I bought a new PC about 1 year ago and reinstalled
it with no issues.

I've installed it on a new machine just fine. Works great. I still use it. I'm using it this week in a live set.

Let us know if you have any problems installing. You do at least need the basic installer app, then you need to place your libraries in a subdirectory. You define the location in the installer app.

It is indeed one of the very first "vintage" plugin synthesizers.. and yes, it's still ridiculously good. Use it all the time.

It might not be the real deal but I'm liking AlchemyCM version for those who still wish a bit of Alchemy, it's cheap easy to install and sounds great. One of my go to

OK, some obvious difference:

Alchemy 1 works as VST for Win/OSX, while Alchemy 2 only works in Logic/GarageBand/etal. You can't buy A2 as a separate plug, it only comes bundled with Apple DAWs.

Yeah, i kinda guessed that. I still have a fully working version of Alchemy on Windows. Is the mac only version the 'long awaited V2' with new features, or just a new mac version ???

However it may have started out as Camel Audios Alchemy 2. Now it's just Alchemy in Logic X.
