Sometimes.

Camel! Woo! Been doin' that funky camel walk since the mid-70s when Aristillus blasted out of a... um, let's call it a record store... and I went in and bought their other copy.

It was made of that funny black vinyl stuff we used back then in the days when pharaohs and dragons walked the earth.

Huh. Another guy I admire and hadn't thought a lot about lately... except sometimes when playing with MMV.

I recently picked up a reunion concert DVD of the early pscyhadelic band "Nektar" with Larry Fast playing keyboard, especially on the songs from "Recycled".
Very good show for fans of that group.
Nowadays they are grey-haired but when they picked up their instruments it was like time stood still and they still can kick ass.

Well, I'll be darned. Connections I never knew existed. Thanks! This is an educational thread for me.

Ahh, yes Gryhpon! One of the reasons I started playing recorder!

We had a Camel thread a while back as I recall (since I brought it up) - they are not completely "unsung".

I also like Annie's solo album from 1989 where Larry Fast produced and did most of the synths. I think some people don't like that one.

...and Recycled from Nektar with Larry. Man!!!

Bring it full circle by mentioning Annie's rendition of Turn of the Century with Steve Howe on that one Yes covers compilation.

I thought Annie and Steve were going to do some recording together, but I guess that never happened?

Makes me want to pick up a Nektar album again. The only thing I have on disc right now is Recycled.

Any suggestions?

As I mentioned earlier I would pick up the DVD, they played the old stuff near perfectly, they have since released the 2nd half of the concert on another DVD with a complete performance of the "Tabs on the ocean" album.
Another favorite of mine is the "Down to Earth" album although most of it's songs are of a shorter duration than their previous epics."Nelly the Elephant" gets a nice long groove to it and there is also the beautiful "that's life" on it.

I was thinking more in terms of cds, but the dvd sounds cool too. Will check it out!

Yeah, I know, I just get excited.
I've been a fan of their's for years and when I was finally able to see them live I get even more excited, especially since it has been 20 or more years since they broke up.

I find all of the rare and hard to find stuff on Amazon.com.
It's easy to get all the great music without leaving the comfort of home.

Here's a link for a list of their other cd's, click on the one your interested and scroll down and you can read listener's reviews of that cd.

If you already knew about this site than maybe it will help someone else.
Enjoy. :D
