Hello :phones:
So I am starting with R 6 full and it is really nice, I am totally new to synths.
I have seen that there are more things from NI for Reaktor 6 here https://www.native-instruments.com/en/p ... dbyreaktor

Before studying them all, I'd like to ask you:
-which one of those is a unique and well worth expantion to get in your opinion? (If any)
I mean something I can never achieve with R 6 full and really expands sonic possibilities.
(under a production rig point of view, not much as a synths purist per se).

-Is there no discount for that own R 6 full? :(

-I was also looking around at serum and massive:
Are those 2 synths something really different than R 6, plus , eventually, new modules?

Basically the situation is that I am new to synths, I have R 6 and I am learning it and I'd like to have/understand the most complete sonic possibilities tweaking R 6 at his highest, eventually get new modules (see link above) and evaluating new synths as well.
All of this under a production practical playing point of view and not under a synths genius/particularly-pro geek-user.

phhew

Thanks in advance!

You might want to have a look at the User Library first, before spending any more money... there's only a few thousand things to try out ;)

To OP

That link is to standalone synths made with reaktor,

What you get with reaktor 6 is Blocks, which is fully modular environment

Serum & Massive are wavetable synths,Serum has nothing to do with Reaktor & Massive was made by NI that's the only really connection R6

Allegedly, Massive was prototyped in Reaktor. Anyway, I second the advise to first check the User Library. There are tons of ensembles there, and some serious gems among them :)
And Reaktor used to come with a good library included, with some very good examples and many template Instruments and Macros (not sure if it's still the case, since I don't have Reaktor 6)

Yeah explore the user library for a while before getting other reaktor paid synths. Some of them are pretty great though, and not something you'll find in the user library. I like Prism a lot and Form looks really cool too.

Compared to upgrading to Komplete though, buying individual synths from NI isn't really worth it. Get to know Reaktor and explore the user library. Watch videos on their other synths and if you feel like you want several of them, upgrade with your reaktor license to Komplete, which will give you many of the other NI synths for good value.

Say I like Razor and I have R 6 full.
Can I recreate Razor with my R 6 full? (or any other on the link)
Or, can I find it in the user library?

This is not clear to me.

Simple answer is no

If your a DSP genius yes

Good to know,fmr,thanks

If you need a good tutorial, this one is top notch

Reaktor is based in small "modules" that you link together and with what you can create Macros > Instruments > Ensembles (this is the hyerarchy, although you can create an Ensemble with just one Instrument - or which is itself just an Instrument - which has no macros).

The Reaktor Instruments that are sold separately are very complex ensembles that use specially programmed "modules" not available in the stock that comes with Reaktor. They were coded especially for building those instruments. Therefore, you can never recreate them with Reaktor. OTOH, if you have those instruments and you have Reaktor, and if you have the skills, you can reuse the modules to build other Ensembles for your own use (and pleasure).

Again, check the library that comes with Reaktor. There are some really great ensembles there, and I'm sure you will learn a lot by dissecting them (I know I did). And then check the User Library. There are tons of files there, and you will have to be patient, download a lot of them, and try them. DSon't be afraid to download older ensembles. There are really bright gems hidden around.

BTW: If you really want to learn Reaktor, I would forget the Blocks for the time being.

When you say you are learning Reaktor, what do you mean exactly? Are you just loading existing instruments? Connecting Blocks modules? Building your own instruments from modules and macros? Building DSP algorithms at the Core level?

Reaktor, at the level of creating your own instruments, is a graphical programming language. If you are comfortable with programming languages and DSP math, then yes, with a lot of time and effort and practice, you can create a synth like Razor. I doubt that is the case, however.

Thanks for the clarifications.
I mean I am learning how to build my own ensambles with the modules I have with Reaktor.
Basically, linking them properly.
I won't go deeper than that since my aim is to produce music and find a good balance between
versatility and practicality.
I have Reaktor and I want to get the most out of it : based on my needs, before evaluating other synths.
First I learn what I can get with it (based on my fixed treshold of willingness on going into it), then I see what other modules and synths can add to my rig.

I think I am going to demo a whole bunch of stuff, at this point.

Ah- wrong. The separately sold ones might use unique core cells and macros- true. However, *if* you have the skills, you can definitely recreate them. There's no secret stash of core modules or anything like that.

AFAIK, those core cells (which are, after all, the specially programmed modules I referred - i called them that in order to simplify) are the soul of the sound of those instruments. Without them, how would you recreate the instruments?

Or are you meaning that he could program his own core cells? Because, clearly he is not up to that point.

The learning curve in building high quality instruments and effects is not in the Reaktor software itself, it's fairly intuitive and straightforward, the beef is in the theoretical and practical DSP knowledge and maths. Most of this is not particular to Reaktor.

I enjoy learning about DSP at my own pace, building basic stuff from tutorials, but the distance from my capabilities to actually making something that would exceed the quality and usefulness of what is already available in endless quantities is lightyears- but it's still fun and educating.

Luckily Reaktor ensembles from both the factory and user libraries can be used just like any plugin, and modifying and combining them is pretty easy... and then there's Blocks. I treat Blocks as an instrument, a digital version of a (big-budget) Eurorack modular. It's nothing more than a building standard or abstraction layer, but it results in a fascinating and easy way to approach music from another perspective than simply playing synth sounds from your keyboard. Of course it can do great sounding traditional monosynths, picking and mixing your own oscs, envs and filters is a 5-minute job which requires only basic understanding of synthesisers. I just find Blocks really shines when there's no Note input connected :)

Am I correct in saying that the pay for official Native Instrument's REAKTOR stuff such as Razor, Prism, Monark, The Mouth...etc. I know there are plenty of others that just slip my mind, When bought run in REAKTOR player, However if you have a full REAKTOR license when/if you buy them then you are able to dig deeper, incorporate stuff from something into another something, Save it for instant recall...etc. Right?

Therefore that is why it of course makes more sense to go for KOMPLETE as an upgrade if you are getting a lot of use out of it?

It's one of those behemoths that with I would say KONTAKT and Guitar Rig alongside it is limitless really in you can achieve/attain whatever you can imagine with the only area being the actual proper skills required to code when using the Core feature REAKTOR offers and getting familiar with scripting when it comes to KONTAKT yes?

I say Guitar Rig as it is far beyond just useful for guitar and bass guitar use, It is perhaps one of the lesser sung multi-FX heroes that are around that does not require anything other than going for the fully featured version once and upgrading as and when (Although it did have that period of add-ons which became staple NI processors like the Solid Mix series and Vintage Compressor series, That's not the case anymore IIRC with the add-ons being the more famous/prolific of the guitar player's in Rammstein, A model of his Rectifier head, Cabs and microphones, An option to expand the convolution reverb and then a selection of effects taken from TRAKTOR and available as anything/everything is in GR...That could have changed though as I just can not keep up!). It is a real stalwart multi-purpose effects processor though like said Also REAKTOR is certainly no slouch in the processing and effects department as MOLEKULAR demonstrates so well.

So if I am still remembering things rightly for the most part (As I've been gone a while from keeping up to speed with all the good people & some of good friend's here, I've missed a heck of a lot of releases, The people more though). REAKTOR really can be whatever you want/need it to be

All the best, Hope that makes sense and helps.

Whyterrabbyt and EW, My friend's it is a pleasure and been a while. I'm gently getting back into the swing, Youngest is at highest school now, So once I've got my new garage sorted, gear out of some lockup, I'll be more fulltime once again, Patience is the game I'm playing currently :D + honestly I just don't enjoy the social media stuff the way I do here despite using it to keep in touch with great people, Forum is superior
