Most hated synth sounds

I remember a while back, one of the magazines had a small article listing the top 10 most hated synth sounds. I thought it might be fun to write a song using all of those sounds, but google is not my friend in trying to find it.
I remember that the DX7 Rhodes was on it, and I think they listed Shakuhachi and Seinfeld bass as well. Is this ringing a bell with anyone.

Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

The Seinfeld bass was from the M1, right?
Just like that cheap yet famous piano sound
I actually like the DX Rhodes sound, albeit not nearly as much as the original, of course. I just don't like it when it is used on those cheap ballads like those by Whitney Houston etc.
I hate the typical supersaw sound.

Right now is the time to do it. Synthwave must have run its course by now. As most of the currently hated sounds are from the early 90s, and a revival must be due soon to follow the 80s revival....it's gonna be Loon birds and pan pipes all round pretty soon.mumpcake wrote:I remember a while back, one of the magazines had a small article listing the top 10 most hated synth sounds. You've not savoured the sound of Scouse House where the donk is king? You haven't lived. It starts at 0:21 and (I imagine) keeps going exactly the same for one and a half hours.fluffy_little_something wrote:What is that?wickfut wrote:the donk bass.

The one where somebody goes "ZOMG check out this filter", holds down one key, twists some knobs and makes this horrible farting/screaming/squealing noise.

I clicked it. I hate you. "Patti Day - Right Before My Eyes" has been spoiled forever.Gamma-UT wrote:

I'm not so fond of synth brass sounds though.

The DX7 Piano epitomizes everything that was wrong with the 80s. And the DX7 "slap" bass sound, as well. And the DX7 flute.
Oh yeah, not too big a fan of synth brass sounds in general, either. I use them sometimes, but only for ironic effect.
The Simmons tom tom sound. Ugh.
