On my OSX version 10.8, the installer only gives the option to put vsts in the user library, but there's a manual install option.

its the same on any build of OSX, i wonder if it's an accident because nobody (ie handful) developers use that path.

I agree, because the installer does not show multiple locations, or give the usual option to 'change install location.' I used the installer to make sure the banks and skins were installed correctly, then I moved the vst and it works fine.

Okay, I will update the Mac installer this weekend.

I have updated the Mac installer and now it should copy files to System Volume instead Home user.

Is it just me, or is the MIDI Learn behavior here weird? It looks like MIDI Learn is built at the preset level, rather than a global level like other synths. Example:

1. Load up OBX-D at default settings
2. Learn your preferred controller settings one by one

Result: everything works as expected

3. Change presets

Result: your MIDI Learn settings have been lost. I'm expecting MIDI Learn settings to be saved/retained regardless of preset.

This is frustrating because I just spent about 20 minutes mapping my MIDI controller and lost the mapping.

In my Live 9.6 environment, Mac OS 10.9.5, MIDI Learned settings are retained when I change presets in the same bank. They also remain in a previously saved Live file.

The settings don't carry over when I change banks from the Obxd GUI, though.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Thanks for this, much appreciated! tested and working in OSX 10.11.6 across a few macs.

A couple of other tiny but worth issues imho...

(OSX Only - no doubt similar in windows)

the vst appears as discoDSP in Cubase and Live however the developer name of the au is Datsounds!

Also the au and vst preset locations are still attributed to Datsounds

au preset path
username/Library/Audio/Presets/Datsounds/OB-Xd/

cubase saves/sees this path for vstpresets

username/Library/Audio/Presets/Datsounds/Obxd/

Would be good to have those paths also as /discoDSP/

Its so much easier when you know the developer name associated w/plugin when ur diggin for preset paths.

Since the hardware ob-x have Cem 3310 envelopes, why does obxd and op-x emulation have completely different envelope shape? i compared Repro-1 to both synths (since pro-one also got cem 3310),op-x is linear, while obxd is exponential:

so what is the closest to the real envelopes?
(i used a filter sweep with resonance on the test above,it would be great if someone can make a filter sweep on a real ob-x to check the diferences)

That could break preset backwards compatibility.

Ok..part 2 from my technical analysis...so i grab a filter sweep from the "comparison" on OP-X site :

this is the real ob-x:
http://www.sonicprojects.ch/obx/compare ... iginal.mp3

so i opened my spectrum analizer,to my suprise ob-x are exponential envelopes, and the op-x emulation is completely linear both in vst and reaktor versions.

now here is the same test i did with obxd:

Image
url:
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pG9xT ... 1080-rw-no

As you can see, obxd is a little bit more wide in the envelope attack curve,(but at least is not linear),a few adjustements in obxd envelope code could bring this much closer.

so this is my conclusion...

obxd is the BEST emulation of the ob-x !.

OP-X have less frequency response(on some notes,it was bandlimited to 15 khz) ,and suffers from aliasing due to poor implemented band limited oscillators.
