Presets saved at the host level don't retain the MIDI Learn mapping (or they're reverting to the MIDI Learn mapping at the time the preset was saved) so there's definitely some weirdness here.Spitfire31 wrote:In my Live 9.6 environment, Mac OS 10.9.5, MIDI Learned settings are retained when I change presets in the same bank. They also remain in a previously saved Live file.
The settings don't carry over when I change banks from the Obxd GUI, though.
I must say, I hadn't been using this much lately but the brass sounds, in particular, are amazing. There are still a few things I think can be enhanced to really bring it to the next level:
1. Rewrite or fix the MIDI Learn so it's a global setting
2. Full blown preset browser (which could require a GUI rewrite but might be worth breaking existing skins for)
3. Have tuning values display in semi-tones (any other real-world parameter values would be welcome such as hz for Filter freq)
4. More voices (or maybe just improved voice stealing)
Not sure if George is up for all of that, but those would make really nice additions IMO!

Hello Sergio!sergiofrias wrote:Ok..part 2 from my technical analysis...so i grab a filter sweep from the "comparison" on OP-X site :
this is the real ob-x:

so i opened my spectrum analizer,to my suprise ob-x are exponential envelopes, and the op-x emulation is completely linear both in vst and reaktor versions.
now here is the same test i did with obxd:
As you can see, obxd is a little bit more wide in the envelope attack curve,(but at least is not linear),a few adjustements in obxd envelope code could bring this much closer.
so this is my conclusion...
obxd is the BEST emulation of the ob-x !.
OP-X have less frequency response(on some notes,it was bandlimited to 15 khz) ,and suffers from aliasing due to poor implemented band limited oscillators.
We can't see anything from your links, because you use the bbcode tag img instead of the bbcode tag url.
I invite you to edit your recent posts to fix that issue in them all (at least the one made in the few last pages of the thread).
And in addition, Google Chrome shows perfectly the special image format webp, but not Firefox. webp is a proprietary format of Google. Therefore the best is to keep on using JPG or PNG.
Here is what gives the tag url instead of img:
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pG9xT ... 1080-rw-no
At least it allows the user to click it to load the image on Chrome from any other browser.

OP-X Pro II is far better at reproducing OB-X Patches than OB-Xd making OP-X the BEST emulation of the ob-x !. It probably could benefit from a 2017 overhaul of the the VCO and VCF, but it is still #1 when it comes to emulating the output of the hardware at all parameter settings.sergiofrias wrote:Ok..part 2 from my technical analysis...so i grab a filter sweep from the "comparison" on OP-X site :

hmmm, that's interesting to know ,mainly because i don't own a hardware ob-x, so i don't know how close, the parameters on obxd is to the real thing,i will try ,to check some videos...now that discodsp took the development,i guess this is something that can change in the future development...i will try to recreate some patches from op-x on obxd to check what is possible to do,but i agree that is very important to have the closest parameters to the real thing,George ,if you are reading this ,please take this in consideration...(maybe in the future it can also import tape (WAV) files from the originalelectro wrote:

To calibrate things to allow such precision is a really hard-task, and demands:sergiofrias wrote:hmmm, that's interesting to know ,mainly because i don't own a hardware ob-x, so i don't know how close, the parameters on obxd is to the real thing,i will try ,to check some videos...now that discodsp took the development,i guess this is something that can change in the future development...i will try to recreate some patches from op-x on obxd to check what is possible to do,but i agree that is very important to have the closest parameters to the real thing,George ,if you are reading this ,please take this in consideration...(maybe in the future it can also import tape (WAV) files from the originalelectro wrote:

1. A hardware unit in mint condition to check
2. That the software has been created from scratch withthat in mind.
However, OB-Xd was not a faithful recreation of the OB-X. It has some features the OB-X doesn't, and to accomodate that, things were a little different. Filatov Vadim clearly stated that his aim was to emulate the OB "sound", not a specific model. He included features of almost the entire OB line from the SEM to the OB-8
That said, the OP-X Pro isn't an OB-X emulator either. Maybe the OP-X was, but not the OP-X Pro, which goes way beyond that.
Regarding the cassettes, to accomodate patch loading from audio encoded data (which was what was in a cassete), it would need some kinf of translation layer from audio, which, AFAIK, no software has. It's not the same thing as a Sys-Ex converter. Even the more faithful recreations of software, like the TAL U-NO-LX (Juno-60), don't have the audio encoded data loader.
So, for the time being, what we have are the patch sheets and the sound examples. But the OB-Xd can do a great job with just those, and is very versatile.
