Hey all.

New to the forum. Just thought I'd humbly put a song I recorded with Sonic Synth 1 out there: Sleeping Girl

Hope at least one of you enjoys it. All of the sounds minus the guitar and vocals are SS1.

Looking forward to Sonic Synth 2!

Best,

Matt

Thanks, Squids, and thanks to you and the team at SR for great sounds and software.

I mean that.

Good job. Thanks for sharing. You have made me even more anxious to get my hands on this bad boy.

Very nicely recorded, and nicely sung, too.

Is that Bass Guitar harmonics at the start of the first couple of verses?

Drums are well done too. You should check out Studio Drums Capsule for more variety of kits mapped like that one. I bet you could make good use of the capsules in your music with your style and playing ability.

I have dial up so I have not downloaded many songs from here but this is the best I have listened to. Very sweet nice song. I especially like the separation between the different sounds. Can you tell me what you used to record the vocals and acoustic guitar. The guitar especially sounded very nice. Not to mention the SS1 sounds which I will soon be in possession of.

Thanks a ton for the comments, everyone. I appreciate you all taking time to listen.

RayC-- you nailed it, bass harmonics on the verses.

Squids-- thanks for the compliment! You're the drum master, so I am very appreciative. This is my second song recorded with SS1, so I'm just trying to learn as I go. I did get the Studio Drums Capsule recently, and am very impressed. Just waiting for ST2 LE to use with DP4. You are right-- the capsules I bought: drums/strings/bass work well with the stuff I write.

morelia-- Thanks. I used a Rode NT1 for the vocals and guitar (although the guitar was blended with a K&K Pure Western pickup).

SS1 kicks serious bootay.

Cool!

Nice drum work there. Do you have experience playing drums?

Forever,

I am very happy to hear that. I have an NTK so I will try some more guitar recordings with it.

Yeah, it's always cool hearing someone make a great track with a smart VFM set up. Not everyone can afford to get a U47 and these Rode mics can sound GREAT as well as a few others that don't cost THAT much money really. It is amazing what kind of "studio" you can build for the money these days and produce album-quality music. Sonik Synth 2 (or SS1) saves a couple thousand from the only option 4 years ago which was to get a hardware keyboard workstation. Something like Cubase SX (or any DAW/Seq) saves from having to necessarily get an automated mixing console and a bunch of Adats (or before that expensive 2" machines). It's a good time to be making music! I wish I had all of this about 20 years ago when I first started! (let's see... when I FIRST started over 20 years ago I think I was taking two lousy tape recorders and playing live along with it pass after pass... :D -old fashioned lofi overdubbing!)
