Can we talk about the new features, not the cost, it's getting really dull.
I'm pleased about the fades/crossfades. In terms of mundane tasks, that is what I was missing most.

The thing that intrigues me is the new modulation and that some of it can be polyphonic! That was my biggest wish was a move towards flexible polyphonic modulation.

90% of the added stuff is something that was requested to v1 so I'm not so excited about those. But deeper hardware connection? Very exciting :tu:

Yes, there may be a few paradigm shifts hidden in this update regarding modulation, I suspect when the beta/demo is available more people will be talking about the music and the possibilities. I love the idea of using the adsr yo open filters on my modulatbhardware and software instruments and fx etc, could really unify hardware and software within a DAW to have common ADSR, LfO and all those other fun looking modulators.

Please elaborate; what are the rumoured USB>CV interfaces?

It is not a subscription model cause when the time runs out I can keep using the software as long as I want without paying. If I keep my audio computer as is and do not do OS updates, I could run Bitwig for years without any additional cost. As long as I have that option, I do not care so much about the manner in which I am asked to pay for improvements... cause the choice of when to do so is in my hands.
They are just using semantics here to confuse, a normal license in the DAW world does not run out after 12 months, that is where it enters the subscription world, call it a hybrid. In looking at the threads this seems to be the bone of contention. I think this is a step too far YMMV. Why they decided to do this is baffling as it could only cause trouble.

I have no issue in paying for upgrades and if I think it's worth it then I can buy it or not. And if they come up with another upgrade and charge for it I can pay for at that time with a guaranteed bug fix between the two versions. That's only fair and reasonable, why have this 12 month limit.

call it a hybrid
Agree. Whether it "feels" more like a subscription or not will be more based on how often they may or may not retroactively push bug fixes back to expired contracts. That could become a bit of a mess, having multiple internal versions active on multiple forks.

This is the major reason for all the turmoil in every major forums on the Internet.

I cant remember where I read it, either slutz or NI forum when Reactor introduced CV out blocks there was 'talk' of a N.I. box with CV out. Midi to CV obviously exists as does ADAT to CV etc via expert sleepers, but USB output to CV seems like a pretty straightforward deal to me (USB audio to CV rathr than USB midi to CV for the resolution) and we have that now with the ES-8 (which is USB to CV in/out, but no windows drivers yet Doh!!)

Thanks, good to know.

Some interfaces audio outputs can be used for CV signals, they a database at muff.

Yes, but they typically have a voltage range of +/-3v max. A dedicated CV interface should have a range of +/-5v at least. My ES-6 has a range of +/-10v.

I believe the issue with the ES-8 is that it's a class compliant USB2 audio interface. While Apple has implemented support for class compliant USB2 interfaces Microsoft has not. Windows only supports class compliant USB1.1 audio/MIDI devices.

Windows 10 class compliment USB 2 audio has been included in the latest development update (you can try it now, put its currently playback only). Hopefully we will soon have class compliant USB 2 and be able to agrigate audio interfaces in Windows!

So I've read. Sounds promising!

I'm not a Bitwig user, but this feels a bit more like Bitwig 1.4 than 2.0, to me.
