dekky wrote:being a big reznor fan i have to say this: nicely done me, but i think you should move further away from the original, either do a f**ked up version or a quiet version.. like the drums, vocals aren't bad at all.
do a remix of that remix, or should i?
Cool, I'll get it ready....then PM ya a link.digitaldoom wrote: better... nice piano @ the end

BTW, the vocals are going to have distortion, that's the way I recorded them.

I have a Les Paul and a 30th Anniversary marshall. I'd be happy to have a crack at it but time is an issue. Also the fact that I have never tried to play it. I'll have a look for the original version and some tab if you want.mr.me wrote:Do you play, or have a Les paul with a marshall amp...maybe you can hook me up with a guitar track for this? Or anyone that plays guitar?morelia wrote:To be honest I don't really like NIN. I think this sounds pretty good though. If instead of (what I think is) SLAYER the guitar sound was a Les Paul through a Marshall I think I would love it.
I don't have an amp, so I cant get my guitar to sound right....so I chose to use Slayer instead.
But if anybody wants to do this guitar track for me, I'd much appreciate it?
I was thinking of posting a couple of tunes but don't know how to. To use the Cafe do I email them or do I have to upload them somewhere and the post a link?

The stuttering in the beginning needs alot of work. It sounds forced and is a bit annoying (espically the repeating of the 'oh's). That pad organ during the first chorus is a bit abrasive. I'd lower the attack time (presuming it's synthetic) and add distortion push it back into the mix.
I do really like the vocal break before the 2nd verse... but again, those repeating vocal tidbits have either got to be really worked on or taken out. The drum 'break' after the second chorus dosen't work for me. It dosen't flow' and causes the track to loose a good deal of momentum.
In summary, either tweak the hell out of the repeating vocal bits or get rid of them and work on that pad-organ during the 1st chorus... and on the drum break after the 2nd chorus.
On a side-note, during the choruses of the original track he dosen't always sing the full 'Nothing can stop me now because I don't care anymore'. He variates between 'Nothing can stop me now because I don't care anymore' and 'Nothing can stop me now cause I just don't care'. Those variations help move the chorus along very well because it's less static.

You have to upload them, then post a link. I'll host em if you want? Just email them to me and I'll send you a link.I was thinking of posting a couple of tunes but don't know how to. To use the Cafe do I email them or do I have to upload them somewhere and the post a link?

hey mr.me,
just so you didn't think I was ignoring this...
I did not like the NIN version at all
but I downloaded your version cause you're my bud.
I didn't like it either - but it's much more to do with the song than anything you did.
but I listened!

OK I will give it a shot. It is the downward spiral version right. Not the further down the spiral.
I will just try to do it as per the original.

Not familiar with the original at all; I liked the general feel of this. Timid and tempered piece, which I think could be even rawer as it is allready.

Thanks for the listen Mystahr.
There might be some guitar in there in a bit, that might help the rawness.

Cool, thanks. Any other info you can give me would be good but at this stage I will just record it as it is played on the original with a sm57. No fx. I will let you do that. Should only be 8 or 16 bars. I am busy for the next few days but I will have a go at it soon.
